Anyone have brake noise?

About 2 months ago, I had a lot of brake noise, where at the end of braking it would make a loud high pitch noise. I tried cleaning it with my high pressure hose, because I had a brake dust problem with my old cayenne and that would usually do the trick but it didn't. I brought it in, they said they took the tires off and cleaned the pads and it went away.

Anyways, it's now back. They told me at the dealership they had some cars with defective pads that had the same problem and they had to change them but for me it was just a cleaning that was needed. I don't want to have to bring my car in every couple of months for this. Anyone else have the issue? Like if I ride my brake going very slow it will also do it, maybe 1 out of every 3 times, ie. coming to a slow stop at a light etc..

Mine will do the same but not consistently. It does it most when it is below 32 outside. Same as you for when it happens....when I'm moving slowly forward with the brake on or in drive through.

Same deal here -- when cold. The dealer says, "Some brake noise is normal." I dunno about that.

My brakes squeak when it is cold outside at low speeds. It is very annoying.

I haven't heard any brake noise yet from my X3, it's 4300 miles.

High pitch squealing when gently braking to a stop. Started about 6 months after I bought the car. Dealer said brakes had to be "cleaned", and that it would cost one hour of labor (not a warranty item). I declined. They stopped squealing on their own for now.

Do a couple of emergency stops from high speed (safely). It should iron out any slight imperfections in the discs that could be causing it. This worked for me on my current Q5 and one previous BMer.

If that doesn't fix it, insist they replace the discs under warranty.
