2011 X3 Trailer Hitch Install

Hello all I just got a qoute to have a BMW trailer hitch installed on my 2011 X3 the dealer qouted $700 for the hitch and 6.5 hours at $135 per hour o install it thats a staggering $1577 for a trailer hitch. Does anyone know if it takes this long to install or is the dealer just trying to rip me off?

That's on the high end, but not completely out of line.

You can sort of check prices (if your local dealers have this setup) by going here, add the hitch to your cart, and start punching in zip codes nearby: http://www.shopbmwusa.com/VehicleAccessories.aspx

Def not completely out of line... There's a lot of programming to these hitches. Part of the programming will give you a different angle on your back up camera when hooking up a trailer to assist you with lining things up more.

I don't think the UK hitch is available in the US but I have the BMW electric hitch and it is very elegant. Activated by a button in the boot it folds out. Also has a zoom on the reversing camera so you can line things up. No more shouting at the wife who has an inaccurate view of 6inches - can't think where she gets that from

It cost GBP 760 as a factory fit. Way over the odds compared to an aftermarket hitch in the UK but it works, is integrated and is invisible when not in use.

6.5 hours seems high to me. I have the backup camera as well and I actually waited at the dealer while they installed the hitch. It took 4 hours from the time I arrived until I was driving off the lot. My dealer charged me $1054 plus tax for my hitch installation.
