Brand new 245/45R19 98V Pirelli Cinturato P7 All Season Plus

Tracks perfectly straight on asphalt and non-rain grooved roads. Tires are buttery smooth. Take it on a section of rain-grooved concrete and it is literally hard to handle, especially new sections on the way from Missouri to Colorado on I-70 East and West.

We looked intoxicated. Ha. I didn't pay much for them new so I'm not too worried about replacing with something else and selling these on Facebook for a loss to somebody who needs this size.

Any suggestions for a decent tire that does not tramline? Something with a little more casual tread design perhaps?

This is my wife's X3 so the tire does not have to be sporty at all. It just needs to track well on rain grooves. We travel the Missouri to Colorado route mulitple times per year and are planning on doing it in the X3 but have resorted to taking my Tundra again since it tracks straight with the Michelin AT2's. My Z06 does this to some extent with Goodyear Eagle F1 Supercar rubber on it but not even close to as bad as the X3.

Random thoughts:

* Check if they are directional and / or have inside & outside labels, and if they're in the right orientation
* Check tire pressures
* If a square setup (all tires are the same size) swap front to rear
* Definitely check alignment especially toe and be sure there are no loose suspension bits like worn bushings that will appear to give a good alignment but move freely later
* If the tires are new check with the store / shop and let them know you hate them, and do it before many miles are added on.

Yep, it's all spot on. It's just the tires. I've read reviews and it's common with these. We drove them around locallly for a couple thousand miles so we didn't notice it until we hit grooved concrete away from our city so they're too "used" to be replaced by the seller. No big deal. I'm just looking for replacement suggestions. Thanks!

Are they OE wheels? Aftermarket wheels that move the centerline outboard can exacerbate the tendency to tramline.

Yep, totally stock. Entire vehicle is bone stock. Seems to be just something peculiar with the tread design that loves to pick up the grooves and hug them tightly!

I have the runflat version of the P7 Cinturato All Season Plus on my 2015 320i in 225/50-17 and they do not tramline at all... ever. However, my wife's X3 with the Goodyear Eagle LS-2 runflats in 245/50-18 tramline really bad... like what you are describing with your Pirellis.

So does that mean it has to do more with the vehicle/suspension or the size/width of the tire?

Width of tire is certainly a factor in tramlining from everything I've read. I've actually thought about going down in width as much as possible with a different tire to see if it helps. Shorter sidewall of a low-profile wheel/tire combo can also come into play given a stiffer sidewall.

When I bought my used X3 from Germany with run flat tyres , I noticed very annoying and strong tramlining which , sometimes, scared me. I shifted to non run-flat and the problem gone. I think it has to do with the extra stiffness of the tyre wall in rRFT's.

Yes, I took my run flats off when I bought it but the problem remains.

I've got the P7 all season runflats. No issue at all.
