BMW recommended oil intervals?!

Can't find any reference for the intervals for f25:

  • Transmission
  • Differentials
  • Gearbox

Thanks in advance.

There aren't any, your car decides its own interval based on a number of factors (condition based maintenance) and will display the recommended change point. BMW believes in life long oil in the tranny and diff so you won't find that either in their documentation. However, owners disregard their methods and as such you will find owners changing oils at varying mileage points depending on where they live and how they drive their cars. You could reach out for their collective thoughts on this.

I just bought an F25 for the wife with 60k miles. I'm not taking chances...Transfer case fluid is cheap and there are no downsides to doing it.

Transmission BMW states is lifetime which is a total crock. ZF recommends 60k miles for fluid and pan/filter change...so I'm doing that.

Differentials I'm also doing at 60.

Not in warranty...don't chance it to save a few bucks in fluids and labor if you're not doing it yourself.

Prepare yourself on differentials you need to siphon..there's no drain plug.

if ZF recommends 60k, I think we can all collectively agree, that is the correct Service Interval.

The front has a drain plug, the rear does not.

The transfer case may or may not have a drain plug.

Some do, some don't, not sure if it's by year. My 2011 has a drain plug Made the job easier since I didn't have to remove the support bracket.

Not really... most differentials don't have drain plugs. They are intended to use a siphon or unbolt the rear plate in others.

BMW changes out the plugs c/w integral seal whenever they come off, so you just saved $20 on one less replacement plug.
