Lincoln MKC - a new smaller Lincoln SUV to target X3, Q5, etc...

Not interested in getting one here, but it is another competitor if you are willing to buy a glorified Ford

I have to admit that when I come over to the states I find Lincoln cars (post the Towncar), are decidedly unattractive and dread getting the keys from the rental at the airport (just in case it's one of them). Now if Ford have an interest in them they may at some point turn around and have decent designs.

Don't get me wrong, I'm American so I would really want to support the US car industry but they never have anything that I want. The overall designs often look OK at first but always age badly and often look tacky and worn somehow. I addition there are always too many cheap, shiny surfaces inside and out for my taste.

I just went to the Zurich car show and took a look at the Camaro. I was amazed at what I saw. The car had "Hot Wheels" badges on the side and black decals glued to the little fake vents ahead of the rear wheels. The car cannot be taken seriously.

I could have written those same words as that exactly 100% expresses my thoughts.

The last American car I owned was a new 1971 Buick Skylark. I replaced it with a 1974 & 1/2 Datsun 260Z (a transition 280Z with SU carbs). The incredible improvement in fit, finish, quality, feel, and reliability was overwhelming. The absolutely terrible everything associated with that 1971 Buick, especially in almost direct comparision to a Japanese product, left a very long term and powerful impression on me and I never again purchased an American branded car (although I have not hesitated to buy BMW, Lexus, and Toyota products manufactured in the US and Canada).

I agree, US manufacturers certainly have come a very long way since then. The quality of a new domestic branded car is indeed excellent. Nevertheless, I do not at all believe cars sold by American Companies (GM, Ford, Chrysler) age as well as German and Asian brands. The interior of every American branded car I have ever seen looks worn and old after a few years.

I know this is unfair and incorrect but I nevertheless perceive people that buy expensive Cadillacs as very naive car buyers.

Whats wrong with a Town Car? Handling like an aircraft carrier, looks like a police car (in the US), and makes you feel like you ARE driving your grandparents car

Like the cheap chrome fake vents that they stick on them, saw a new Lincoln sedan today that has them on the hood! Lincoln makes their cars look like cheap ricers with these accents.

My take on American cars is the same as the rest here, they are ok when new but wear and get old and clunky very quickly.

Never owned an "American" car - have Hondas, Acura's, and my X3 that are built in America.

Today's car designers were raised on "hot wheels". To me, that is why so many of todays designs, such as 20" low profile wheels reflect the hot wheels look.

Sorry folks, but my ex Ford Freestyle style was better built than any BMW I've owned.

CTS, ATS, Corvette, Fusion Hybrid, Jeep Grand Cherokee (yes, I know, Fiat), Impala, upcoming SS, Focus, Escape. Tesla? There are some very competitive and desirable American cars of late in their respective segments, and I love to see it. Credit where credit is due.

Actually, I think Honda and Toyota have been the ones phoning it in lately. Can't think of one car where I'd choose them over their American competitor, except for the Odyssey (we do love our minivan).

you gotta give credit were credit's due like a previous poster said. My first choice of cars after my lovely germans would be a ford Lincoln vehicle, ford does great product and prices them well, I currently own an x3 35 and a clk 55, but I don't dislike my company car mks and yes if I don't inherit the f10 550 from my company I will be looking at the mkc. I'm a mid aged male I enjoy the power and comfort of my mks but I wouldn't brag about it's handling, but again to each his own.
