If you have Bluetooth, you should be able stream audio via Bluetooth with your iPhone paired and I think this independent of smartphone integration but the US options are different to UK. You might need to re-pair your iPhone to get this to work

How well does the Bluetooth pairing of streaming audio from the Internet work?

It's as good as your 3G connection is but you get no control or display on iDrive - unless you have 6NR. I use streaming audio for podcasts a lot and it works well

Hi sfax, this might be plainly obvious but could you please confirm the following:

1. You can only control internet radio from your iPhone (ie. Pandora) if you have 6NR.
2. You can still stream services such as Pandora via Bluetooth.

Anything more complicated than that?

No, 6NR transfers control of iphone applications to iDrive, so for example you can see and choose radio stations on iDrive. Without 6NR, you only get what is supported via Bluetooth. E.g. I can listen to Internet radio but can't see which station is playing without looking on the iPhone itself. Some smartphones have enhanced Bluetooth connectivity so you'll get more information appearing on iDrive. iPhones are pretty limited

Look at the recently posted 6NR video and compare it to my F25 feedback thread to see the difference. Can't post links as I'm on my iPhone I'm afraid

I just drove from Moab UT to Denver CO in early model (pre6NR) listening to Pandora using the white iphone USB cable. It worked well almost entire trip except some of the slot canyons where I lost cellular data. No big deal that it doesn't show on display of X3. Pandora displays on iphone.
