Wiper Chatter

2013 X3 with a chattering driver side wiper. Might be time to replace both blades, when they swipe right they smear pretty badly too.

Not sure what it is like with the X3 but this has been a huge headache with my 9-3, once i replaced the OEM blades, NOTHING seemed to fit right.

is there a recommended brand that is the consensus way to go?

If the wiper blades are one year old or older, I replace them with OEM blades myself unless the replacement is covered by the dealer.

If the blades are less than one year old, I would first make sure the wiper blades are clean and properly aligned to conform to the windshield. I try to clean the wiper blades with windshield washer fluid at least once a month. Some people recommend use of rubbing alcohol or WD40 on the wiper blades.

I prefer the PIAA silicone blades. Nicer than OEM, same price. Get them on Amazon, after going to PIAA to get the correct model/part number. I've used PIAA for years. They also leave a silicone film on the windshield that causes the water to bead and run off - very nice.
