Finally got wifey to come around and picked up a 2014 last week, loaded, but with the basic stereo.

Is the wiring harness the same between the basis and hi-fi? I'm wondering if the center channel speaker wiring is hiding in the dash and the back corners.

Has anyone upgraded the head unit? I would like the HD tuner too. I'm assuming that is built into the HiFi unit, and likely would have to get coded in after a swap.

I'm looking at adding the BavSound amp in the near future (too easy and upgrade)...

Good question. I know that on the X5s BMW stopped running the same wiring harness at some point, meaning that you non longer had the plug and play option for upgrading speakers/adding tweeters. Not sure about the X3 though. If you're looking into the Bavsound amp I'm willing to bet they'd have an answer for you on the wiring as well.
