How much HD space for MP3s?

I am picking up my 2015 X3 35i tomorrow replacing my 2012 X3 35i and I was wondering if the amount of space to save MP3s in the system is still 12.5GB? I couldn't seem to find this info anywhere. I am just contemplating leaving my music on a USB stick or on my phone but was wondering if the space has increased?

How do most people listen to their music library? It seems like most people stream from their phones which I don't mind, but I like to be able to search through my library too, and I was able to do that only with my iPhone which is a secondary phone. I would love to be able to do the same with my Android phone which I understand is now supported with BMW Apps (was not the case in my 2012).

Just trying to prepare for my music in the car.

20 GB AFAIK.
I'm using Spotify - pretty well integrated with iDrive as long as you hook your phone up w a cable. You can browse playlists etc thru iDrive. BT is not supported though. I've made my playlists available off-line.

I'm using a 128gb memory stick. I have 900 albums on it and have used just over hslf the available space. A 12.5gb or 20gb HDD seems skimpy in comparison.

I got an ipod classic (80GB) from ebay - the builtin HD is just too small.

Thanks all - I agree, the built in is just too small. I think I am keeping my library on my cell phone and then plugging it into USB. I tried BMW Connected on my Android and even though it's not as functional as the iOS version, I can search and play through my phone music library pretty well. I hope one day they'll come with app support for Android, TuneIn, or even Web Radio.

I also do have an iPhone6 and plugged that in. Spotify does work great. I couldn't get it to play music from the iPhone (through External Devices) though, and I think it's probably because all the music I had to test with on the iPhone was actually in the cloud and not downloaded to the phone.

I believe there is an update to the firmware for mobile phones. My VIN seems to indicate there being one.

ipod classic for me too. I have a 160gig ipod with tons of music. direct attached seems to be the best option for high quality/clear sound.

i also have a 128gig thumb drive filled with MP4 movies to watch on the idrive. perfect for those situations where you find yourself sitting around waiting for the wife to finish her shopping spree with the money you could have used to get the M3 you wanted!

^^ Hmmm, I didn't know you could watch mp4 movies via a USB thumb drive. Sounds like a great idea just to leave in the car so as you said - something to watch during certain situations! lol Thanks for the heads up.
