2012 X3 25i - How much should I offer?

Hello

I am fairly new to the BMW realm (and to this forum ). I just went to the dealership, and test-drove 2011 X3 and really liked it. The problem is that it was far to loaded for my taste.

The salesperson offered to customize a 2012 x3 to my specifications. I like the arctic white, with panoramic moonroof ($1350) and Oyster leather seating (~1500), with the other costs, the total MSRP comes out to $40,275, on the website.
When asking what he can do for us as far as discount, he did some number crunching and gave us a figure - 38975 (39k), 1275 off basically. So OTD was ~42600k.

Long story short, I said I would talk it over with my family and get back to him within the next few days.
My question to you is, what should i offer to get the best deal possible (I am not financing or leasing, just cash)?

I really appreciate your help, and am excited to get my first BMW.

Thank you again,
akad

Try pricing your car on edmunds, through carsdirect, AmEx auto purchase program, or BMWConfig.com Add 800-1000 on top of "Invoice" and you should be reasonably low. Never negotiate down from the MSRP, always negotiate up from the invoice.

Thanks for your reply.

My dealer just offered me the exact invoice price. Should I jump on it, or try to squeeze a lower price?

Thank you

Invoice is good if it does not $455 option allowance

What is "option allowance"? My dealer did add a "free" power tailgate to the options that I requested...

I asked for Titanium silver (550), enhanced bluetooth (650), so with handling (875), the msrp is 39425, and the final sale price is 36200 (about 100 less than invoice).

On top of that, I can get a $500 credit for financing (then pay it off after 3 months, since it was originally supposed to be a cash sale).

What do you think?

Thanks for your help

I see you got it. My CA told me that Nov/Dec new X3 option allowance for power tailgate car is $500 or without power tailgate is $455. So the free power tailgate is actually not from your dealer, it's from BMW USA. Anyway, I think you have a very good deal.
