Very nice! Mine is all plastiboard and duct tape to seal it well. Ghetto compared to your fanciness. Of course, mine was done in an afternoon along with new charge pipes after the BM3 tune destroyed the stock charge pipe within the first two miles.

Thanks! No for those diffuser brackets I used Loctite Metal & Concrete Epoxy. It's better for that application because it works better as an adhesive than JB Weld.

Well I got the intercooler installed. I decided to improve what the factory did and make some mini-brackets to tighten up the gap between the diffuser plate and the shroud:

As I do in my other cars and truck I'm going to put some weatherstripping between the intercooler and the shroud and some beneath the diffuser plate. Let's air leaks = force more air through.

Ok so FSociety, with one size colder plugs, the CTS intercooler, FTP Charge Pipe + Boost Pipe, and AFE Pro Dry S Air Filter, and 93 octane only gas which BootMod3 map do you recommend?

Stage 1 93? Stage 2 91? Others?

Super clean install! Really excellent.

Without a DP, I'd say go with Stage 1 93. With a DP, Stage 2 93. You might be able to get away with the E30 Stage 2, since ethanol will offer slightly cooler EGTs, but the stock cat may suffer. Adding WMI would increase the chances of that working well.

Unless you have an X4 M40i stock cats might work with E30 for sure (Dyno proven) but regular 35i has definitely some restriction there you want to take advantage of every bit plus the sound is a plus.

Ethanol is not an option where I live(other than E10). I've actually never seen it sold in the flesh. There may be stations in Atlanta but that's 3 hours away.

Yeah fortunately I've never seen 91 here. Only 87, 89 and 93.

Hardparker, how hard was the DP install? You retain the O2 bung(s) on the UR Catted model correct?

Also I do NOT like loud. I have a turboed SR20 with a straight through 3 inch exhaust no cat and hate it. It's loud and drones on the highway. With the stock exhaust and the UR Catted DP how loud over stock is it?

I did the DP install as part of the Pure install. The band clamp is potentially a little bit of a hassle getting back on. That's the worst of it, so not bad.

My catted version isn't much, if any, louder in the cabin. Outside of the car, it sounds great. I'm going to gut my cat media soon to not have to worry about melting it with big boost on the PS2. I mostly wanted it for visual inspection anyhow.

So like this through the side?

How does the rear work? Looks different than the F30 one above. Just a round clamp with a slip joint?

You're in an X3, right? Remove the underbelly cover, stiffening plate, both mounting points on the DP, DP clamp, remove O2 plugs at harness connection and clip mounts at back of head/block. Then undo the band clamp at the slip joint on exhaust to DP. Trying to remember if I removed my motor mount for this, or just jacked up the motor 3/8" with a floor jack and piece of 2x8. The motor mount for sure came out for the PS2 install. That's all by memory, but seems accurate.

So I opened my ticket with PTF and asked them what tune with the mods I listed above. What I got back was confusing. Please decipher:

Stage 2 is made for high flow or catless downpipe. But you are able to run on stock with such setup, you can always try stage 1 and get the stage 2 OTS

About N55 PWG OBD unlock, that will take a little time before we release it.

Stock? Stage 1? Stage OTS? WHAT?

No no no don't gut it. That's worse for flow. From my friend Mike Kojima's(Motoiq.com) Honda/Acura Engine Performance book:

"Hollow Cats- Whatever you do do not remove or hollow out the catalytic converter of your street car. A hollowed cat can actually hurt horsepower as the empty box can cause flow stagnation, which effectively shortens the length of the moving gas column in the exhaust pipe. The empty box can also reduce important flow velocity. This is usually felt as a loss in bottom end power, although power throughout the range is affected."

What you need to do is get the straight UR pipe and sell the one you have to me. (I'm serious)

The cat is tiny. It's smaller than what's pictured for it on their site, below. It's about an inch in diameter wider than the rest of the DP and it's short, like maybe 6 inches at best. Barely a bump in the pipe. It's not gonna hurt a thing. Trust me. A stock cat, maybe, this here, no.

Ok what about the smell? Do you smell like a lawnmower after driving it? Smell it inside the vehicle also?
