Driver inner door handle

The inside of my door handle has crumbled. If I put my hand in it to use it I get black gunk on it. Dealer says it not covered. It poor quality. It's why I didn't buy a GM!

That sucks!

Just today my door lock cylinder barrel tumbler stopped working, so I just order the repair kit for that!

I am keeping up with these threads, this one, the glove box cover delamination, the moonroof creaking, the wind noise whistle, and the others. As I approach the time to trade in my X3 I want all these outrageous build quality deficiencies to be fresh in my mind so I balance them against the positive experiences I've had with the vehicle. At this point it is a fairly close balance, much closer than is reasonable given the top tier prices we pay for these cars.

I just fixed mine. The barrel lock seems to be a common failure dating back to the e36 cars, the fix is on youtube and shows the common part that fails, which happened to be the exact part I found to be broken.
