Feedback

I currently drive a 2014 520d Touring and I am considering buying an X3 to the point my base order has been placed but I am struggling to finalise the order on which model ( X line or M Sport). I am also undecided on which colour leather to go for. I've always had the black leather option but the Mocha which is available with the X line is drawing me in. Does anyone have any feedback regarding Models and how does the Mocha leather look in real life.

You live in the UK , right ?
If you order a X3, you should realise that it might take up to 9 month before it will be delivered....

I have a delivery date of November 2015 - I've ordered direct through BMW UK rather than a dealership so hopefully that date should be very solid.

I have sat in a few BMW with Mocha interior, its very nice in my opinion. It looks very elegant and if I were ordering an BMW, that's the interior color I would get.

Personally I would choose a X Line for sure, and for the exterior I would advise:

- deep sea blue metallic
- melbourne red metallic
- sparkling brown metallic
- mineral white metallic

I find the other colours very dull.
A mocca interior seems great to me, also Oyster Nevada. However I chose black.... mainly because of our dog .

I agonised over the xline/MSport too

Eventually I went Xline .. Partly because I didn't want massive wheels and the MSport starts on 19s I drove an MSport with 19s and the ride was very jiggly.

secondly because I think in some colours the xline actually looks very smart. Thirdly because I think everyone will have an MSport so perhaps the xline is a little different.
I think the xline is a good compromise

Interior wise is very subjective .. I've always had black until my current car which had beige .. To be honest it has been fantastic and still looks as good today as it did four years ago .. Keeping it clean has not been an issue.

I have ordered beige again because I think it looks stunning against the Melbourne red .. Time will tell if it was the right thing to do

Oyster is lovely but seems to get grubby easily

White .. Well I have to say it is growing on me

Brown .. It is very dark so must be seen as an alternative to black.

Re delivery I think your car may. be through the same source as mine. Generally they are excellent .. Though they are still at the whim of the factory as I found out ...,

Thanks for the feedback - much appreciated.

I think I'm going to commit to the following:

Had our Oyster for 3 years and still looks like new.....

My wife does not like dark interiors so we went for the Oyster and have been very pleased with it.

The only thing I would add is sports seats .. I think they make a massive difference

I second that would definitely go for sports seats, very comfortable for long distances

What's wrong with the standard seat? What does the Sports seat offer that is different?

The base of the standard seats is very flat, with little side support, I guess it depends on what model your 520d is as to whether you'd find them comparable.

I went for the m sport model in space grey with oyster leather, it'll take a bit of looking after but I didn't want a sea of black inside.

Vis pack is definatly a good pick.

The sport seat allows the base angle to be adjusted and the base can be extended

The standard seat is flat and the base angle is fixed and cannot be adjusted

The seats are more contoured and the side supports on the back rest are adjustable and give more support

They also look far far better imo

we went for the electric standard seats - gives the same adjustment ... which is saved on your key profile. My wife (5ft) found the sports ones to "high" when getting in and out. I would have liked the base extension but otherwise with the lumber adjustment as well they are fine for long trips.

My wife - who previously never had any interest in cars test drove the X5 & X6 over a weekend, loved them but found them just too big. We had an X3 and both really enjoyed it. BUT changing drivers in out other car is a pain due to manual seat. In the X3 it is a breeze with the key profile system.
We drove 1000 (twice) and we alternate drivers every 90mins. With the profiles on the keys it is just so easy and no hassle.
Given her hight the X5/6 are just too hard to be "ladylike" especially with sports seats, the X3 works for her.

Don't ignore Saddle.....it's a great leather colour. I had Oyster last time, which I liked but after a while it's a little anaemic. Then again Saddle could be a bit strong for some.

I find the saddle a bit too orange under certain light conditions, Mocha looks a bit darker under direct sunlight.

I agree with your comment. In photography terms it's about white balance. In the UK where sun is at a premium Saddle works. In a strong sun environment it does pick up the colour of the sun. With grey UK weather it works.

We also had the same issue. My wife found the sports seat too long and was uncomfortable. We also went for memory seats for same reason.
