The real M division left for hyundai/kia, i8 is the halo, turning over M division to an Audi insider who is pushing quattro/silver mirrors/doesn't want to work w Mclaren... The only thing good about the X4 is it brings jobs to the Carolinas

BMW obviously cares more about profits than truly pleasing its true customer base

Then scott comes along and spews BS to keep people interested

Let's fix things by adding even more M badges

Soon there will be velosters and Geneses w N plastered all over them

For what reason? To gloss over what a piece of garbage the X3 is? I own one and other than the styling despise it. The thing was an afterthought. Cheap build quality, garbage steering, weak brakes, disgusting clattkity clak engine, and the thing hates changing direction. Ride is nothing to write home about either. X4 is the same platform and same shit box. BMW has gone off the rails and is a giant whore now.

The 1M borrowed its engine from the z4 35is s drive thing. I really don't know how to feel about them doing it again since it worked so well the first time.

But anyway, Acura couldn't sell the hideous zdx, but slap some bmw badges, m badges, and audi mirrors on it and I guess it sells.

Yes it's outa control ! I think the masses that impulse buy have no clue. they think M appearance without the engine so much more practical!

S-line, amg sport, m sport. At least the amg sport pkg does say amg, or didn't used to.

One positive is it will make search the used ads much easier to find msports bc it will have its own drop down box.

While the ///M badge may be losing its value and exclusivity, why all the hate for BMW filling niche segments...after all isn't the point of business to increase profits, whereby increasing the share price? Why let another company have those profits...BMW has never shied away from filling all manner of segments.

The answer to your question is simple. In their never ending quest to fill market segments and create new ones, they are compromising three key things; the first is quality in favor of quantity, the second is they are alienating many loyal customers, and third and most importantly they are compromising the very soul of the company. Yes this approach will pad profits and make shareholders happy in the short and medium terms but in the long term it will catch up. Think VW. I for one will likely never again buy the brand if the products continue as they are. This from a lifetime loyalist.

There's just something wrong about the whole coupe-esque ness of these and other similar models.

For me anyway.

Yes, ideally you have a point but if it means that we will as result have money being made in the M brand to justify developing the cars we love then yes bring them on.

It is getting harder for the management to fund and justify the business case for developing the cars we like on pure business and environmental arguments today and this half breed goes some way to make them ignore these pressures and give us the cars we want.

Some of these guys just can't handle the marketing BMW does....I see it's reason behind it....doesn't bother me and we all know its an M-Performance Line Model and not a full-blown M. These comments have been beaten to death....I don't get why people still bring it up...

Less than what you expect. Only few guys remove the 35i of their M235i. It should be the same with this car.

Compared with the X5, X3, and X6, the X4 is young. Suspect BMW wanted to test the market first, let it mature, and see how the numbers trend. Comes down to profit margins it would seem, and what the competition is placing in the mix. We've had to wait a number of years for the X3 - M.

I don't give a shit about that BMW corporate crap. Make it or don't, stop fucking around, I say! Make it badass and then it will get acclaim and then it will sell, it is as simple as that.

I am a Creative Director with a think outside of the box mentally, suits just have their heads up their ass, they live inside a box.

And dam those wheel look like crap, BMW seriously needs better wheel designers. And for god sakes make them black, would you please.

Again, still awaiting a true X4M!!! Just freaking make it already and quit dicking around.
