Fix-A-Windshield

In just 2 weeks I already have a chip in the center of the windshield.

Has anyone used Fix-A-Windshield or similar product? Does it work?

I have used it on batwings and bulls eyes about 1/4" diameter, and it works awesome -- so well, that it truly impressed me. It's not so great for surface pits, so I wouldn't bother for those. But if you have a smallish chip that has caused cracks into the glass layer, it works great. The resin fills in the cracks and they become nearly invisible. The instructions are clear, and easy to follow, and the kit is made well.

It may be fine on larger damage too, but I haven't tried any cases like that yet.

depending on your state and your policy - many windshield replacement firms won't charge a deductable if they can fix the windshield - only charging one if they have to replace it. Except massachussetts that has a 0 deductible front windshield on comprehensive coverage policies by state law.

also, a windshield claim is not treated like an accident claim so there should be no surchage or rate increase in most states.

i had to replace the windsheild on my 3 series when it was just over a year old...

no problems on the X3 so far, just a tiny door ding (such is life when one parks in the city....) not happy about it, but they happen.
