I bought a used X3 2011 i28 two weeks ago. Today I have this problem.

I had not had any problems with the car in these two weeks (except for a message from the tire sensor that indicated that the tire was underinflated and that after resetting it worked correctly). However, today I was driving and the vehicle started giving me these three problems simultaneously:

- Drivetrain malfunction
- DSC and xDrive malfunction
- Flat Tire Monitor Inactive

These messages every time I accelerate the vehicle over 40 km per hour. I turn the vehicle off and on and it comes back when I accelerate again.

Tomorrow I have to take the vehicle to the mechanic shop of the company that sold me the vehicle but I really don't know if they will be reliable and if they will just reset the problem but it will appear later.

What could be happening?, what should I look for?

Battery is probably dying. BMWs get very whiney when battery voltage is low. What you are experiencing is called the trifecta.

Thank you very much for your message. I did not know the trifecta.

I forgot to point out something: It should be noted that the vehicle has very few miles on it (75k approximately) and its CARFAX is completely clean.

If it is not the battery what could be your second alternative? How can a mechanic know if the voltage is bad in the vehicle?

They run a battery and alternator tester. And my guess is that it's the battery or alternator. The car is 12 years old now, if it's the original battery it's definitely on its way out.

I came to the mechanic now and he will replace the pistons and accelerator pedal module. The errors he got before the change that led him to make those changes are the ones I accompany in the attached image. According to him, the battery is in perfect condition.

Do you think his analysis and solution is correct?

They won't be replacing the pistons lol. And unfortunately I don't have all the information that you do, so I cannot give any more advice based on the current info.

Yup, good bet they will be leaving the pistons alone.

I just responded to your other thread….but a second thing that i could mention….at 75K miles , you should change all driveline fluids ….transfer case, front and rear differentials, as well as a transmission oil change…NOT A FLUSH, just a drain and fill with BMW oil balancing procedure. After all fluids changed have the VTG Transfer Box reset as well as the adaptations for the transmission. If you keep these fluids changed every 40-50k, it will last

Thank you all for your answers. Now it remains to break the piggyback and look for a mechanic to make these adjustments as soon as possible. As soon as I manage to do them, I will write you here.

Thank you very much!

The black plastic gear in the actuator motor stripped. Therer are two ways to fix it.
1) replace this gear, https:
//www.amazon.com/dp/B078FSRWBW?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_detail s

2) If you decide not to replace the black gear, after you pull the worm gear out, hold the circle white gear and turn it 180 degrees so the bad section got out of the way, put the worm gear back and you in business.

Your video is for an E series, not an F series

The fluids are not that bad…just get them from FCP or another reputable Euro car website
