It's a long story... Any Help Appreciated!

I have a 2013 BMW X3 28i XDrive that originally had the N20 engine. Sadly, the car fell victim to the infamous timing chain issue and the engine is toast. This all happened prior to receiving the letter from BMW explaining the extended warranty for the issue and because of that, BMW has left us SOL.

Long-story short, the car now has an N26 engine in it, which has an entirely different turbo, injectors, etc. yet fits perfectly in the engine bay and runs like a top.

The only issue with the engine swap has been a check engine light that we simply cannot figure out how to knock out (I don't have the exact code at the moment but it stated that the engine was running lean/not getting enough fuel). I would appreciate any input anyone may have regarding this! Any thoughts on fuel injectors, a tune, etc. would be extremely helpful.

My guess is the N26 injectors have a different flow rate than the original injectors. The tune stored in the DME is wrong for the injectors installed. Do you still have the injectors from the old motor? I would reinstall them.

Curious - How many miles did you have when your N20 grenaded?

Dealer told me to "not worry" about it, but the wife still wants a new CX-5 if there is enough reason to get out of the X3.

Only had 60,000 on it when it quit
