New Order!! 35i MSport - It's HERE!!!
Finally pulled the trigger! Out with the '12 328i (Sport) and in with a loaded MSport. I loved the power of the N20 in my sedan but for the X3 it just didn't do it for me...and I fell in love with the xdrive 35i when I test drove a '14 a few months ago - I was sold on the sound of the exhaust and the acceleration. So now I'm in with the LCI!
Carbon Black Metallic (416) Mocha Nevada Leather M Sport (ZMM) Driver Assistance Package (ZDA) Harman Kardon Surround Sound System (688) Enhanced USB & Bluetooth w/Smartphone Integration (6NS) Heated Front Seats (494) Wheels: 20" X 8.5" Fr/20" X 10" Rr (Style 310m) (2VX) Dynamic Handling Package (ZDH) Lighting Package (ZLP) Premium Package (ZPP) Technology Package (ZTP) I was going to go ahead and order the Dinan Mod but it's not approved in CA yet, so I guess it's wait until break-in. Now the long wait starts! My CA was conservative and gave me the standard 7-8 weeks, hopefully I'll see it sooner, but not holding my breath... Last edited by kjoseph270; 03-17-2015 at 06:16 PM.. |

Congrats! You are going to love it. I'm also looking into Dinan.

NO word on an allocation yet and it's been 2 weeks! Not sure if I should be frustrated yet, but I'd at least like to see something from the factory. My dealer was trying to trade allocations with other area dealers because they said they didn't have one left for January. If that's the case and they can't trade, it won't even start production until next month.

Hehe, yeah, sorry, that would be really frustrating! I just want to hear some news, they are still trying to work it but hopefully will have an update this week.

Update! CA texted me yesterday and said they didn't get it on the 1st but their allocation was the 3rd or 4th. Didn't work out for Jan but looks like the sausage will be made soon!

The good news: you don`t need tuning. I was afraid that 1.9 tons and 306bhp/400 Nm would be on the low side, but with the 8-speed you get all acceleration you will ever need.
The bad news: the very nice exhaust sound is not very pronounced inside due to good insulation. I will buy the upcoming M exhaust system with a valve for "race driving" |

CA told me 4-5 weeks from allocation, but already spent a month waiting for that!
Yep, I'm totally on board when the M exhaust comes out! ...am still on the fence about the Dinan tune. I test drove a '14 M-Sport 35i and was very impressed, but am still very interested to see what an extra 50 hp will do!

Allocation!!! Status 112, my dealer was finally able to acquire one from another dealer. CA told me it should start production within a week.

The Latest - Still sitting in status 112. Texted my CA yesterday and he said next to the 112 status it said Week 10, day 3. I asked if that meant first week of March, the third. He said he wasn't sure but would talk to the person that does the orders.
I'm not sure why there was all of this posturing for an allocation if it's still spills over into next month! Sheesh, maybe I should just wait for the '16s to begin production.

I'll be pissed if they keep telling me they don't have allocation. Dealership should know exactly which slots they have. If I were you, I would try other dealerships that have allocations.

Yeah, they were kind of vague, but saying they were really trying to work it for me...then I get this latest...doesn't make sense in my mind.

production begins!!! My CA texted me last night and asked if I had seen it started a couple days ago...reading on here I saw people say the website is slow to update. Refreshed and now it's showing. woot!
I called the 800 number and it says scheduled completion is 26 Feb...is that right, a week on assembly? I thought it was much shorter than that.

The actual build time is more like 40 hours. The rest of the time is the logistics of getting all of the right pieces and parts to arrive at the right place and right time in that 40 hours.

Still impatiently waiting, but at least it's a new kind of agony - My X3 is on a train making it's trek to CA. It's scheduled to be into the west coast on 15 Mar...then 2-3 days before it hits the dealer, so maybe my St Patrick's day I'll have it.
