Replacement mirror back and glass.. alternatives..

Hi..

A lorry decided to drive across the road and clipped my drivers side mirror today, luckily it didnt get ripped off, but the back housing and mirror didn't survive.

BMW seem to want a lot of cash to replace the back and then paint it, and for the glass.. so was thinking maybe its cheaper to actually replace the back with a CF one on both sides and just buy the glass.

Anyone done this, or got any pointers?

Thanks

Have a ring round car breakers!

I think they now have a national location service for the breakers that take part in the scheme!

Try here:- http://www.hills-motors.co.uk/

Thanks for the posts.. Called a lot of breakers and was surprised how little there are for these.

The high price is due to the glass being auto dimming and heated, which most of the ones I've found are not. If it had been the other mirror I'd have not been too bothered about non dimming, but drivers side, really do want it.

The good news is that I located in Germany a breaker who had a set of 2 autodimming, heated mirrors for £137.

The back of the mirror is £50 part with £54 painting, so saves £160.
