Sunroof noise at slow and high speeds
I'm noticing some sqeaky and creaky noises from my sunroof with the cover open but the window closed as slow speed and at high speeds I'm getting a low bumping kind've of noise. It's low freqency, kind've of groaning noise that is definitely noticable at speeds of 70 - 80 MPH. Closing the sunroof cover took care of it, but I'm wondering if I should have it checked out by the dealer.
On the positive side, I'm never had a sunroof that I could actually open while driving that is actually fairly quiet. It's not bad up to 50 MPH or so, of course, this leaves out opening it on the highway. |

I get random high pitch creaking/rattling noise that appears to be coming from the sunroof. It doesn't always happen, and sometimes it happens on smooth road.

Out of nowhere this most irritating squeak came from sunroof when going over uneven surfaces. Dealer checked it out. Bolt inside sunroof casette was loose. Just needed tightening and squeak is gone. Mind you the car was at dealer overnight

So either I could offer that information, or I could gripe about how my sunroof ALSO does the same thing; redundancy is annoying, but so are extraneous replies like yours here. Clearly you seem to have so much to do with a car whose model name you cannot properly punctuate: X3, not "x-3." Are we done, or do Le Chef's Variable Damper Control Vestal Virgins need to explain it to you again? And if you had anything to do with the X3, you'd have read the thread on this forum about that. |

I'm having the same issue with mine, I hate this squeeking noise!
Will need to go to the garage to let them check it out :-( Issues with my X3 so far: - Squeeking and cracking noise comming from sunroof, you can even still here it silently with the sunroof cover closed. - Driver side window is squeeling like a pig when beeing opened/closed (why does this sentence remind me the movie deliverance - High fuel consumption (check spritmonitor.de for user: TenaciousC) - Squeeking passanger seat when someone is sitting on it (even with none fat people) The finishing quality clearly lacks with the X3, a pitty cause for all the rest this is such a brilliant and fun car to drive! |

Here is another one with some rattling noise from the moonroof when passing over bumps. This is regardless of going 30km/h or 130km/h...
What surprised me is that it has been quiet ever since I picked it out from delivery less than a month ago, also at higher speeds 130-160km/h (85-100mph). The rattle started just recently after testing the tilt function for the first time while driving approx 80km/h (50mph). One would expect the moonroof of a BMW would manage that... Guess I need to see my dealer shortly for a first warranty visit. |
