Oops Dropped it!

Well not like that......

First time for me posting over here on the forums. I have been following many of the threads while our 2012 X3 was on order. It's really my wife's car but I wasnt going to have her driving around just any X3. Around here there's a bunch. We decided that when the car came in, we would drop it a few inches since we don't plan to use it for offroad purposes. I prefice this with her previous car being a Z4 loaded we just traded in. The new springs are H & R sport drop. The dealership was awesome to work with we have now purchased our last 4 cars with them. Here's a few pics:

I will get some more pictures this weekend when the tint is complete.

BTW If your looking for a great place to purchase, look up Steve Thomas BMW in Camarillo. Ryan works with internet sales. He will hook you up.

And no, I am not affiliated with them. I just feel credit is due where people put forth effort these days. Seems customer service is not a skill with a lot of people these days.

Looks good. How much lower is your X3? Any change in the ride comfort?

How was the car lowered? BMW parts or aftermarket?

Aftermarket. (H&R)

Too bad they don't make lift springs, it's supposed to be an suv after all.

oops missed that. The drop looks cool and gives the car a more 'rackish' appearance.

now all you need to do is put a big fin on the back and neon lights in the undercarriage, maybe huge woofer if you have time.

The ride comfort did not change enough to matter to us. But remember we didn't spend any amount o time in the vehicle to matter. This was done the day we picked it up. What I can say is the Z4 was much firmer then this ride. You can also notice the change in suspension dampening still when engaging sport mode. Overall we have had nothing but compliments from family when they have traveled with us.

To clarify they were the sport drop springs that result in an actual 1 1/4 drop so far.

We like it. I have enough toys for off road. This is more for street and ice driving while hauling people.

Few more shots in the sun yesterday afternoon. Just had the windows done 15% all the way around. The double effect in the back worked perfect. When the sunroof shade is pulled, you cannot see in. It's nice.

Also a note. I really like driving this car. It's got the capability of an SUV, but agility is tight and the manuverability is great. On ramps are fun...

For those wondering about clearance issues, I have taken some of the biggest speed bumps known to affect a few other cars. At a slow stride of course, but still no bumps, noises, scapes or any of the above. I will try to get side by sides within the next week or so.

And a few of the regular passengers:

Over here in Europe you wouldn't want to do it, as it makes it look X1-ish. And it magnifies the somewhat too small wheels for its rather large wheel houses the X3 has as a standard. But no idea whether larger wheels are possible.

Really? Just because he put lowering springs on the X3...judgmental much? OP - the drop looks nice, way to make your X3 unique

I don't understand the logic of lowering an SUV. The advantage of the SUV is to go where normal cars can't pass. Now you're confined to the same areas (asphalt) of normal cars. Naaaa I don't like

And honestly, I never found beautiful a lowered vehicle, regardless of the model.

I hardly see any difference on the pictures.
Would like to see comparison pictures of your lowered x3 with any standard x3. Thanks!

Love it!

I can't wait to get rid of my Horrendous wheel gap. Top it off with some D's and it'll look so mean

Anyways for the haters... can we please do what ever we want with our own Cars? OP wasn't asking for opinions... he was simply showing us what a lowered X3 would look like for those of us doing so.

I will be lowering mine, I have put a tune on mine and I have ordered some deep concave 20's for it... I don't really need the extra ground clearance but I wanted the X3 for two reasons: more room than a car, and higher seating position. If i want to make it faster, or lower, or whatever else... that's my choice... and Im sure others will agree.

Have to agree with fiddy... This x3 community seems pretty conservative.
