UK Waiting times 2012

Hi all I am new to this thread, been hearing about long and annoying waiting times for all new BMW X3 since Jan 2011. Thought I must start a link where we all can put the order dates and time it took for delivery.
I have placed my order for BMW X3 20d on 2nd March 2012 and my dealer gave me an estimated delivery around last week of May, fingers crossed. Had no update since.
My current car: Mini Countryman All4 Cooper D had it since sept 2011.
Car ordered: BMW X3 20d Deep Sea Blue, Manual, Oyster leather, X-line....

Hi

I ordered a 2.0D SE (about to change that to an MSport) on 17th Feb and given a delivery date of "sometime in June". Maybe your dealer has some better build date allocations or maybe mine will arrive earlier or yours later. This may or may not be changed when my order changes to an MSport....

I have ordered mine from Sytner BMW Sheffield and they definitely said Last week of May. I hope they are correct with their estimate.

Congrats baldyboy30, I bet you are just as excited as all of us. Having ordered the car a couple of weekends ago, I have been given an estimated delivery date of the last week in May...am hoping its a bit sooner as the dealer said it most probably will be earlier. Fingers crossed.

I had chosen the manual gearbox until yesterday when I test drove the auto and changed my order. Its will be my first car with automatic transmission but as people have said on here and as I experienced, its really good.

I am really excited about my order, but it seems ages before I can see mine New baby., not sure about auto as I think t will make you more lazy also to me auto is not as much fun to drive and feels like the car is not in your control,
well then again not sure about the age of the people who are ordering automatic as I always think people who are old or who lacks coordination prefer autos. No offence to the members here, it is just my opinion.

I used to think the same about the auto ie make me more lazy and will not as much fun..that was until I test drove the auto. In manual sport mode, it is brilliant.
Having driven both, I think it comes down to individual preference as I think the manual is just as good.

I used to think the same - but having had a modern auto I would never go back to manual. The same would seem true of 95% of X3 drivers- be careful come resale time, I would imagine a manual X3 would be quite difficult to shift (no pun intended )

+1, but to add that with so much traffic on the roads changing gear all the time is hard work and with little to no fuel penalty with new auto technology the days of manual's are numbered.

Ordered mine on 2nd March and have a 9th May delivery - so very excited.
Went for Auto as it has such good write ups and is as economical as manual.

Hi, where did you order yours from? It seems excellent delivery time. I wish mine gets delivered on that date.

Looks like some dealers may well get more "order priority" than others (maybe bigger dealers or dealers that are part of a dealership group, like Sytner?)...

Will be interesting to see delivery times.

OCEAN BMW - were really helpful, had extended test drive of X1, X5 & X3 - auto and manual. Good team, not pushy, good advice - really pleased - and they have a great cafe!- they said every dealer is just getting 2 slots each month so we were just lucky on timings I think..

Re auto/manual - the performance was so good it seemed a no brainer to go for manual, and once my wife drove it then I had no choice - she loved it, I think I may be doing less driving once we get it !

We also went for electric seats to allow for our height difference (she's 5ft Im 6ft) so the auto electric will get well used.
