Seems strange that seats for a vehicle manufactured in the US need to have replacement parts shipped from Germany. I thought most of the component suppliers were NA based with the drivetrains being one of the only things shipped over.

I'm not sure if the seats of the X3 are shipped from Germany because the X3 is manufactured in South Carolina.
If you watch the National Geographic video on the manufacturing of the X3, the seats are made by a contract supplier named Lear Corporation located near the South Carolina Plant where the X3's are manufactured. |
