"Check Engine Light"

My CEL is on. I checked the obvious: gas cap. What are the other things that will cause the CEL to come on. The car is running just fine no obvious issues. Is there any reason not to drive the car until I have time to bring it in to have it diagnosed? Thanks

Make an appointment and keep driving. If there is something critical enough to cause short term damage then your X3 will display more than just a CEL.

you need to cheque error codes to find that out. Could be a leaking airhose or something

bad fuel, or moisture in gas tank if left below of quarter of tank

I had a cylinder misfire last year, presumably caused by bad fuel.
