Red Triangle in Dash Display

I know this probably a stupid question and I did try and google but couldn't be specific enough to get answer..

Sometimes when driving I notice a red Triangle in the dashboard display. I can tell this is a warning light and it is warning me that "something" is wrong. But how do I see what specifically it is unhappy with.

I have seen it for low fuel and boot open. When you start the car it tells you what the warning is specifically but if you don't spot it the trip computer takes over display and there doesn't seem to be a way of interrogating what the light is warning of.

On my Volvo I had a "read" button on the stick which would let me see what the messages meant?

thanks in advance!

With iDrive, go into vehicle info and check the status of the vehicle. There is a menu where it displays what the triangles mean. Hope this helps, sorry for the vague explanation.

No it makes perfect sense thanks... however that is a little ridiculous.. to find out simple info like that - obviously not blaming you for the design...!

Don't worry, if the warning is serious enough, it will have text all over your screens.

The red triangle is left after a message has popped up. Does anyone else drive the car who might have ignored it?

Settings and look at vehicle status will show you all the things you need to see, may be low washer fluid or something.

The other day I drove off and must have had the bong and the message come up but I probably thought it was seatbelt warning. However later on driving I had warning triangle but wasn't sure why. In the end I realised it was boot open (something had stopped it closing in boot). However I couldn't tell what the triangle was for until I did process of elimination. Eg. Fuel/Boot/Service..

Just weird I never got any more bongs or written warnings...
