door knob difference

Hi everyone. i went out to my car this morning and notice a little paint chip around my key hole area. Than, I realized that the door knob on the driver side was all the way down. Vs, the passenger door knob is sticking out. I check the rear passenger side doors are also all the way down when the door is locked.

Could it be a sign someone attempts to steal my car? Would the alarm comes on?

Door knob? Cars don't have door knobs. Try another word or a pic to how what you're talking about. Do you mean the door handle? What part is sticking out? The part that moves when you open the door? What do you mean by all the way down?

possibly he means the lock indicator pin on the top edge of the door trim (interior).
In the olden days they were a lock with a button on top that you could open and close manually with your fingers - and sometimes called the door locks. ??

Yes, the lock indicator pin on the edge of the door is what i refers to. Sorry, my english level is still weak.

I noticed that the door lock pin is all the way down on the driver and rear passenger doors. However, the door lock pin is sticking out and above the interior trim when locked. I saw a tiny chip of paint near the keyhole. I was wondering if someone attempts to break-in my car.

There seems to be some normal variation in the height of the pins. On my car, in the locked position, the driver's door pin protrudes about 3.5mm and the front passenger pin protrudes about 6.5mm. The rear indicator pins are in between those values.

It's going to be hard not to check how much each of my pins protrude later!

Hi Lotus. Thanks for the information. You are the Master of X3. I measured mine and the passenger side door is about 6.5mm like yours. The driver side door and both rear passenger side door has 0mm protudes when locked.

By the way, do you know if we can download chinese, japanese, or italian language to our navigation? I just want the songs title to display when i connected my iphone to the car.

No need to apologize. That's why I asked you to try another word to help us (me) follow.

Better do it right away (baseline reading). Rumor has it that the amount of pin protrusion predicts the life of your X3. When all (4) pins disappear into the doors, it's time to trade in the car or face dire consequences!

Have no idea if different languages (and/or non-English fonts) can be added, but seriously doubt it. The vehicles sold in those (foreign) markets probably have the full interface system re-written in the native language.

I have seen photos of IDrive screens in Scandinavian languages and Russian using those language’s special characters.

Do the door lock pins change height when the A/C is on.

They pulsate along a sine wave at stoplights.

Yours is obviously "smoother" than mine, which is more like a sawtooth wave changing from 600 to 1500 rpm!

Maybe it's time to quit beating this poor dead horse.
