RaceChip Ultimate
Just picked this up and was concerned about the minimum safe setting.
The pamphlet inside the box states that the box is set to a 'safe optimal' setting from the factory. So I installed it as is. I am so pleased. I was reluctant to drop 650 on a piggy back especially considering BMS Stage 1 was a hell of a lot cheaper, but I am happy with my decision. You can definitely feel the extra power. So much fun. Its very linear, also... I don't have a single flat spot or surge during acceleration. Now I got to get bigger brakes

I've read that with the JB, quite a few people used to get drivetrain malfunction errors. But that's rarely the case with the Racechip AFAIK unless you bump up your settings a lot.
Hey, I see your signature shows you have H&R Springs now. Looks like you made the leap after my advice? How do you like it? Post up a review and pics! We need more modders on the forum sharing their experience. Also, can you tell us more about your exhaust? |

Love the H&R's. The ride feels no harsher to me, though I'd be lying if I said I noticed a big improvement in handling. I'm still due for an alignment, but I took her out for a few hundred miles on the new springs and they feel very good. The job itself was quite cumbersome, but once my buddy and I figured out the system it wasn't that bad, took about 5 hours.
As far as the exhaust goes, here is the link to it from FOX... FOX Sportauspuff The Racechip is reallly sweet, lol... The pulls are insane now. After/Before pics below...

The shop that did mine did tell me that they were a PITA to install, mainly because all the interior trim in the rear needed to come out IIRC. I got mine aligned right away, to avoid a second trip there. What suspension do you have? I've got the sport one (option code S226), so I've got stiffer shocks and sway bars already, and I did find on the same twisty road I often take, that with the springs, the car cornered noticeably better. If you've not considered spacers, look into them. I put 12's upfront and 20's in the rear, and I think the stance is perfect now. That exhaust looks killer, and sounds great (the clip on their site). |

Hey BOSSBMW car looks great!! Glad your enjoying the RaceChip Ultimate, I'am strongly considering purchasing one for my x3 35i. It seems like a pretty easy install, how long to put on only reason I ask is I'm still under CPO warranty and would have to remove when brought to dealer.

I tackled the job together with my friend. Those rear struts have to get bolted behind all the trim in the hatch area, complete PITA. I am on the base suspension but to be honest haven't really hit any turns with force yet.
As far as spacers go, I personally don't think I need them. Maybe 5mm if I were to do it but it's certainly nowhere near enough to bother me. To each their own. The exhaust sounds REALLY good. I kept my resonator on so mines a bit more docile than the video but I've been considering removing it as well. I went to see what kind of sound I get when BMS ships out my intake first. Installing the RaceChip is a 5 minute job, even to a novice. You have to remove the air box cover and both sensors are easily accessible. I would encourage also getting the N55 intake from BMS because both items can be easily installed andremoved together. Hope that helps. |

At the time I was researching my options, for coilovers only KW V2's came up that I saw, and I didn't want to spend $2000 on them, so I went for the $250 springs.
In retrospect though, seeing that I want even firmer handling than I have with the springs, had I known about the BC Racing Coilovers at $1000, I would've probably gone with those, and gotten a bit more drop in ride height as well. But at this point, it seems overkill to trade out my springs and spend like $1700 to put in the coilovers (with taxes, install & alignment), for what would probably be a slightly better setup than what I have now, so I'll stay put. I ran it by someone at EAS also, who agreed with my thoughts, and said: In my experience, it doesn't really get much better than sports suspension and upgraded springs unless you're going with a really high end setup. Unless there's a set up that's as good as the KW V2 or better, I would say to retain to sports suspension! |

You're fine, increase another setting after a good 300 miles on stock setting. Quote:

Anyways, I had some requests for exhaust sound from within cabin. Here is a very short clip of a 10mph+ pull with FOX exhaust BMS intake and RaceChip. Loving this thing more every day. I also have a 60-100mph pull vid if anyone is curious in that I will throw it up. Enjoy

Got to hand it to you guys modding out the F25 X3. Over here in the UK, we get worried about changing from runflat tyres to regular tyres! :-) :-)

So that is very good because of the weight diff b/w our cars. Here is vid of my old x3 35i w/ the JB3, 70-100. Not a good measure at all but watch the revs. Very quick like with the RC. |

91 octane no higher than E is recommended
93 octane or higher you can experiment up to 0 or 1 Maybe they've updated the dials so i dont know what they recommend nowadays

For reference: LEFT DIAL / S2 - Lowest performance increase to highest settings: 8, 9, A, B, C, D, E, F, 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 RIGHT DIAL / S1 - on gas cars has no function Has anyone here increased the right dial also? I read this somewhere in the forums about S1: S1 changes how long the performance increase is applied to rpm-range. While there is a note in the RC guide that states that normally you will not need to adjust S1, as the chart above indicates, they do recommend increasing S1 as you increase S2 at a certain point, likely because the additional fuel allows for more efficient duration (this last sentence is my theory only). I tried it once, but I think I got a CEL a while later, and rolled it back.
