New to F25 (2016) any San Diego folks to bounce DIYs

New to me 2016 X3 2.8Xdrive with 85k miles and plan to do my own maintenance, any fellow owners in San Diego (I’m in South Bay) to talk X3s, share lessons learned for DIYs, share tools, etc. I plan to replace diff oil (front/back), transmission oil, transfer case oil, spark plugs, etc...I just did the engine oil and the serpentine belt and tensioner. I had an E83 prior for 10 years of which I did most of the maintenance including oil pan gasket and shocks/struts. Please DM or post here, looking forward to hooking up with fellow F25 owners locally

I'm a 1,00 miles form you, but they key to doing the tranny fluid is having a way to read the tranny fluid temps from the sensor in real time. If you don't have a reader already, Bimmerlink downloaded to your phone and the appropriate bluetooth dongle for your OBDII port is the easiest way. For the transfer case you will need a small vacuum pump - hand operated or otherwise - and some skinny vinyl tubing to suck out the old fluid because it has no drain plug.

for diff fluids, i followed these excellent threads:

https://x3.xbimmers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1736681

nothing important to report, both jobs were straight forward and very easy

lastly, transfer case fluid:

https://x3.xbimmers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1736224

1 key take away, it helps to have an extra jack to support the transfer case as you remove the J shaped bracket. once its out of the way, draining and refilling the tc fluid is crazy easy.

(some will tell ya to buy a special slim tool to avoid removing the brace, please dont be lazy and just remove it, only takes a few min)

dont forget to reset vtg adaptations

Thanks for the tips, I’m digging the F25 hoping to make it last like my e83, I put 100k with few issues, The n20 sounds very different than the n52, getting used it it, no wonder the door sills are doubled in the f25 and the Harman Kardom sound system muffles the sewing machine
