Passenger seat sensor
When I place my iPad on the passenger seat, the fasten seatbelt light and chime go off. Seems like the sensor is way too sensitive. Can this be adjusted or replaced? Anyone else have this problem?

I have the same problem. It's not a weight issue, it's an RFI issue. I get the same result with two cellphones. I have sport seats, and my solution is to pull out the thigh support a bit, and put the cellphones in the crack between the thigh support and the seat. The iPad I just lean against the seatback.

Yep definitely not a weight issue. My briefcase with laptop, iPad and a bunch of heavy stuff didn't set it off but the iPad by itself did. Guess its RFID so I'll look into turning it off via coding

The laptop I was using to code the vehicle with was setting off the seatbelt warning so I coded it out.

Coding solutions aside, yes, I have the same issue with the iPad. It's clearly an RFI-like issue and not a weight issue. For the original iPad it didn't have any impact sitting there until I plugged it into a charger. I now have the current iPad and it doesn't seem to create a problem.

BMW should fix this sensitivity issue. If I driving alone in my X3, I wouldn't want my passenger side airbags to go off if God forbids I get into an accident. I've seen the damage the deployment of those airbags can do and it's not pretty.

There is a weight difference in whether the airbag deploys or not. I'm pretty sure is 90 lbs. Despite your seat belt gong going off, I don't think your passenger airbag is associated with it. You'd have to look to see if the Passenger Airbag disabled light is on next to the SOS button.

The light only illuminates if a weight is sensed that is less than the weight required to enable the airbag. If no weight is present the light will not illuminate.

My 2010 X3 seatbelt warning goes off with nothing in the passenger seat. The passenger airbag disabled light is on. The chime stops when I connect the passenger seatbelt. It does not happen every time I drive, but is very annoying when it does. Any ideas?
