I don't want to mod my 2013 BMW X3 M Sport

Every post seems to be people unhappy about something cosmetic or option wise with their X3 and asking how to modify it.

I just wanted to say that I like everything about my X3 M Sport exactly how it rolled off the assembly line. The only thing I changed was I added a Torklift hidden hitch to tow my jet ski.

Just got the X3 with N55 for my wife. She doesn't want anything done to it. Cosmetically I don't either. But I'm thinking about slipping an MHD tune in when she isn't looking and sneaking up to the local drag strip. The problem is she's always looking out the door window to the garage wondering what I'm doing around her car.

Riick, you know what - you donīt have to. Most people - apart from those with a serious or annoying problem -are writing to get attention. Adding some 20-50 bhp, makes them feel important and have a mutual problem to discuss, with others with same tune. And best of all - they can go to a parking lot and "test" their cars against others, before having a manly discussion over a beer.

Luckily, its all harmless.

Parking lot? You must have some great parking lots. When I raced it was on a well-prepped track - staged in front of a christmas tree and try to beat the guy or gal in the next lane to the end of 1320 feet. Quite thrilling. My skills have diminished such that I haven't raced my car for 4 years (in the 10s at 135mph), but it looks like the only skill needed on the X3 is hit the gas and don't let off until you've cleared the trap. I'm sure my wife could handle that as well as I could and she's never raced.

Cheers!

It's more about throttle response. N55 feels more alive.

I finally got around to removing mine the other day. Didnt realize just how big it was until it was sitting on my workbench. So much more room now.

The X3 28i and 35i both run 14 second 1/4mi, they're within half a second of each other it's impossible to tell the two apart if you were not told which model you were driving. It's all in your head.

A $180 Burger Quick Tune puts the 28i in the 13's saving thousands of dollars on the premium of buying a 35i with better reliability, better fuel mpg, and less maintenance cost. In the case of a 28i vs 35i, bigger isn't better.

In a 1/4 mile half a second is a pretty big deal. And arguably you could say that again you could put that burger tune or MHD or whatever onto the 35i and likely get even more out of it than the 28i could.

I followed the instructions in a thread here about it. It would be easier if the wires were a bit longer. But it all unscrews pretty easy.

Almost. They're about a full second apart - a lot or a little depending on your opinion. And they do drive, feel and sound differently, maybe that just depends on how much you enjoy cars and get into it and notice these things. As for bigger isn't better, again that's depending on what you want and is another opinion.

Your opinions aren't wrong but some of the things you seem to think are factual either are indeed wrong or are just opinions.

Interesting. Where did you get your figures? A real comparison should be done on the same day at the same track with both vehicles lined up next to each other. Keeps bench racing or cherry picked figures from distorting actual performance figures.

Glad you like your stock, I would love to add a 1.5" - 2" drop on mine but it's a 2017 and I don't want to void any warranties.
