Is this battery meter?
Hi all,
Please refer to the photo attached. It was taken from below the speedometer. The car is 2017 F25. What are those numbers (10,20, and 30)? It can't be voltage. 30V seems too high for car battery. During driving the read and blue strips are changing, I guest it shows the battery is being charged. Thanks in advance. |

The scale is marked in Km/liter…..so I'm guessing here but that 'meter' is I believe functionally the same the 'MPG' meter that BMW has used for umpteen years in all their cars (see pic from my 2012 X3).
It's an attempt to show your fuel consumption in real time. Step on the gas pedal hard and watch the fuel economy plummet 😉 I think newer cars like yours have a clutched alternator, thus the battery charge symbol. |

Thanks, Bill. Your explanation makes sense. The numbers represent 10,20 to 30 km/l for the red strips. I will pay attention to how the blue strips move when I drive next time. So, I can make sense of the blue strips.

…I think when car is coasting, foot off gas pedal, the alternator engages and the gauge shows battery being charged, you can test that out.

The blue stripe is the "Brake Energy Regeneration System" which charges the battery when braking or in some coasting situations. |
