This thread is anectdotal evidence that only a small percentage of women comment in these car forums. In my home the only time my wife is at the dealer is to look at various models and colors. I handle the buying, selling and all the maintenance in between.

I drove a Ford Edge while renting a car for biz this week....Believe me, the driving experience in the X3 is 100x better and carries forward the BMW dna just fine..
I came from E92 M3, but due to finances and 2 BIG English Labradors that love to drive with daddy, the X3 fits the bill perfectly...I have no timidness in claiming it's all for me Wifey likes the cushy Lexus RX - she can have it

I don't quite understand why anyone would be offended or even care who drives what car. So what if the wife drives the X3? In my house, the X3 is my wife's car. As another posted above, when one asks a particular question, it may be germane to the discussion as to who drives the vehicle. In my case, I brought up a headlight sensitivity issue. This is important as my wife never noticed the problem even though she had driven the car almost daily for 5 months.
Anyway, here are some reasons that may explain some of the above concerns (some of which have already been addressed): 1) men generally care more about cars than women. 2) men generally post more on car forums. 3) men generally are more involved in vehicle purchasing and research in married households. 4) in two vehicle households, the wife will typically drive an SUV or minivan, whereas the husband often drives the sportier, smaller car or sedan. Yes, this is a generalization and I know that there are exceptions. In our situation, my wife got the new X3 and her 5 yo Lexus RX became my backup/bad weather vehicle. For the record, I MUCH prefer driving the X3 over the Lexus - but neither compares to the Cayman S. |
