I apologize if there is a thread on this already... I could find search function via the cell app.
I recently got a iphone 6 and seemed to have lost all text/email functionality via the navi.... Anyone? |

When I upgraded to a 6, the Bluetooth setting for "show notifications" was off by default. Turned it on and now getting texts through iDrive. Click the "i" symbol in the Bluetooth connection for your car.

Seriously !!! this forum is so great. I had given up. Works awesome now.
And let me add - if your email notifications are not working, check this out. There is a setting you need to do (bug in IOS) that allows email notifications as well. Apparently you need to keep changing 5notifications to 10 and back to 5 (keep changing it everytime) in your phone for IOS to mark it important to notify. OR if you are jailbroken install this app from Cydia BMWNotifier and it is all taken care of. http://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho....php?t=1073288 Last edited by araje; 01-11-2015 at 07:31 AM.. |

I figured it was an incompatibility with either the 6, or IOS8.
For instance, I could have sworn that, in the past, I was able to use Siri to enter a destination for my navigation, which was more flexible than the BMW voice control. Either I was imagining things, or that doesn't work anymore. |

probably the problem is in the IOS8. I guess there will be an small update for the idrive or maybe IOS update (which i doubt) fixing this.
Check this out for more info http://www.bmw.co.uk/en_GB/topics/ow...atibility.html

I did an update a few weeks ago. After this is when I remembered the blutooth notification for the issue brought up earlier.
I'll keep an eye on this for future updates. |

I picked up a new X3 a week ago and for the life of me had not been able to get text messages working. I've followed the processes outlined here and still no joy. Then I came across this BMW site http://www.bmwusa.com/Standard/Conte...hframedin.aspx
After entering in my VIN and software version I confirmed there is no support for text messages in my new X3 (my old X3 had it so I assumed it was standard - stupid me). It strikes me as unusual that we have to pay a premium just to get text messages integrated with our bluetooth. Specially since text messaging is pretty standard on less expensive vehicles with bluetooth support.

With mine (I have the "Office" menu in the menus), I struggled with this for a few months. I figured it out (then saw it posted somewhere recently). You have to go into the phone, and enable bluetooth notifications for text messages in the phone. Then at least the text messages show up, even if emails don't.

On the iPhone 6 - Settings > Bluetooth, locate your BMW device and on the right side click the (i). That will display your options.
On mine all I have is Sync Contacts (enabled) and then choices for Groups: Phone Favorites (checked) Phone Recents (checked) All Contacts (checked)

I have that option enabled. According to my center without the Enhanced USB/Bluetooth option there is no way to get the text messages. It was a convenience/safety feature in my last X3 (which did have the option). I can't see paying $500 for the option to read text messages.
