Another Motor Trend Update

By the way, there's a BMW update in the current May paper issue of Motor Trend. It is not the same update talking about the paint and body shop. This is a different one.

I can't find it anywhere online but it's written by the same guy Carlos Lago. In it he talks a little about the acceleration and says the following:

...I've noticed an annoying delay in it's acceleration. Everyone on staff who's driven it has, too, echoing complaints that the X3 accelerates either one of two ways: too slowly or with your head jerking back. We've also see comments on numerous BMW forums saying the same thing, all stemming from BMWs equipped with the new eight speed automatic transmission.

I believe it's a result of programming, not the transmission itself. Even so, a trip to he dealership resulted in an unsatisfactory "operating as designed" prognosis and no change in its behavior. This month, we strapped our test gear to the X3, and took a closer look. The result? A visible delay in initial acceleration averaging half a second. Why is it there? That's what we'll attempt to solve next...

I wonder if the forum reference is regarding this forum?
