2 Month Update
Hi all!
I've had my X3 for about two months now, and I love it. It drives great, it feels great, it's comfortable, I love everything about it. I still experience some cabin shudder that I know I shouldn't over bumps, and of course there's the steering rack creak/clunk from the front left over more elevated road changes, but I'm learning to live with it. The software update for the RPM issue should be out soon, and I'm excited to be done with that. The 309s look fantastic, and the interior is still stunning. I will say, Black Sapphire is a bitch to keep clean, and my garagemen are struggling to find ways to not leave streaks when washing. Still looks mean, though. I included a few pics. There's a great one of the corona LEDs. Click here for more photos. |

Looking good Judd. The first photo looks like it could be a scale model X3
Nice coronas. Shame about those orange indicators you're lumbered with in the US

I feel your pain bro on the Black Sapphire. Our X5 is B.S. and it is a constant battle. Any black is, really. I only hand wash, and only in shade... then I use a gel blade to remove the larger puddles from the roof, hood, etc. and towel dry with a waffle pattern microfiber and I use spray-on wax in the process. The spray-on wax makes drying much easier, makes your towel last longer before becoming saturated, and buffs to a nice streak and spot free shine.
Of course, including the wheels and tires, it takes me every bit of 3 hours to do each vehicle. But the Alpine White is SOOOO much easier. -------------------- Cabin shudder? I experience some nasty shudder on certain stretches of freeway that I drive regularly. Areas where there is some washboarding, but not intense, produces an annoying "jitter" that I've attributed to the wheels/tires being low on meat. Never experienced it in my E90 with ZSP, and the profile of the tire was a bit lower than the 19" on the X3. Don't feel it at all in the X5 with 19" wheels - though they are a larger overall diameter with more meat in the tire.

It was difficult to identify at first, because it's almost a normal sound, but with more of a metallic clunk. I've had it on both of my F25s. I've heard reports that everyone with Dynamic Damper Control has or will experience the noise. It's the reason my first X3 was lemoned, but now with this one there's nothing I can really do, unless I want to demand an entirely different model altogether (which I might do if the RPM issue isn't updated soon). I hope BMW figures this out.
