BMW have recently repriced their offer but I took in a quote I got on line and they matched it. So got 4 years cover, maximum of 5 claims (does not cover Europe! travel)
cost around £350.

Like I said was happy to pay a bit over the top as it means dealer deal with everything!

Horsey's car might well have come in directly to the UK from the US and is being checked at Thorne and then transported to the dealer.
Mine it seems did not come direct to the UK.. from what the dealer has told me its has gone to Germany, is offloaded and reloaded to be sent down to Southampton.
I can only assume they do the vehicle checks in Germany and then the dealer picks it up directly from Southampton and is delivered to me.

Am thoroughly confused and the lack of tracking for UK cars just makes it more frustrating
Gosh! Didn't realise there were diffent routes...at least yours in approaching the uk swf, ain't got a clue about mine!

Reckon Horseys is taking so long because it needs an armed escort seeing as it's so valuable, lol. Oh and there's the uprated suspension for the weight of the extras.

Had an email from the dealer, our 2.0d se will be ready w/c 11 June. It was ordered early march and I think built in week 20.

Really looking forward to it, but will be sad to see the Murano go!

Might have been able to a £100 in total but this way it all is managed by the dealer whatever happens in the next few years!!

I seem to recall that the BMW insurance pays out the original list price for 1st 9 or maybe 12 months? On this basis I passed on the GAP insurance and became 'self-insured', same with the tyre insurance too. I also believe you can buy 3rd party gap insurance for 1st owners up to a vehicle age of 9 months on some 3rd part policies.

Before you ask I dont work in insurance I just did research in Oct last year when my F25 was delivered.

As for the EU trip one member asked about for the tyres then you wont need it as the EU recovery service comes with new BMW for 3 years so if you get a puncture you might not get a new tyre in France but you would get road side assistance and possibly can get it replaced with tyre insurance when back in the UK (if you can make it back with a flat tyre then claim it happened in Dover!)

Talking X3 M Sport delivery soon!

Just had confirmation that my car will be with the dealer on 12th June and available for delivery on 15th!

Not a bad wait having ordered last week of March.

Happy Days! Not long now.

Hi all,

Made my second trip to the local BMW dealership today. Not in a position to put pen to paper yet but had a test drive in a 2.0D se Auto with Pro Nav. It had 19" wheels so I don't know how much that affected the drive, but it was still a smooth drive.
The Sales Exec, introduced me to his finance guy. The indicative figures he used based on BMW PCP select finance were 11% APR. This seems very high when I've seen 7 or 8% quoted to me for direct finance. The finance guy told me he could get a better deposit contribution if I used their finance. But they'd have to knock £2k off the car price to match 7% Apr, before discussing any other discount. The sales exec also loaded a 'Gold Package' onto the quote, which includes GAP insurance, leather protection etc. etc. £1400 for not much I think. I can buy independant GAP insurance for a fraction of that price.
Am feeling I should just discuss the cash price for the X3 first, before finance.

Attached is a PCP/ HP calculator I've been using, please test and let me know how you get on. I've punched in an old Honda finance quote which works out ok. Interestingly the only way to reverse engineer the quote is to 'front load' the interest, and then zero the APR. Is it still common practice to 'front load' PCPs with the whole interest? Thereby making it seem expensive to leave the finance early.

Is anyone else using BMW Select finance on a X3, would you mind sharing your APR rate? I presume cars on offer will get a better rate.

Thanks

Wow that is quite a quick turnaround time. Ask them to give you the build status code so atleast you know if it has been built or not.
Ideally, after it goes through into build, the status changes quite rapidly and then slows down again while its on the boat to Germany and then to Southampton
Well I finally have a status code! It's 5300 which is pre-assembly start. He also confirmed still good for second half of June delivery.

I also asked whether they send their cars to Thorne for prep or did it themselves. Thankfully (based on Horsey's nightmare) they do their own prep. So come on Spartanburg, get that baby to the end of the production line!!

Two weeks between build and delivery? Are they flying it over?

Mine should be being built now (or last week), fur for delivery end of June or early July. I don't know who is preping it.

Once you engage the dealer I find it tough to change the negotiations/strategy. You might do better to go to a new dealer (in another group) and ask about discount if you cash buy. I always find it better to decide what you will pay first then find somone who will match it rather than other way around.

Maybe they ARE flying them over! My X3 has "skipped a few codes" apparently and gone straight to "9000" (departed plant). The dealer is now expecting delivery by 14th June.

Well, I could have had my car tomorrow, but there was no room on the transporter from Thorne.

It's booked to come down on Wednesday morning now ...

PS Horsey - hope they will be lavishing you with freebies when you finally pick her up; especially given amount of £ spent & hassle getting her delivered. Let us know what they cough up for ;-)

Good point on the Euro cover thanks.

Ref the GAP we good £20K of cover for 4 years for £300.
Yes its a bet but since I never paid more then 10k for a car seemed a good idea.

You will need a few hours and a helper when you collect to check all those options you ticked have been correctly enabled. You had better check carefully before you sign.......

Apparently they tried ... but I am guessing that nobody wanted to let down those already promised their cars for the weekend.

Shame, would have been nice to have the long weekend to play with it.

Anyway, almost here ...
