Having problem with X3 options

I am ordering 2012 X3 and i have a few questions.
If i Don't have Keyless start, then does my lights stay on when i lock the door? Also when i lock the door and hold on a few second the bmw button, then does the mirrors automatically fold in? I have automatically folding mirrors option. If i unlock the door, does the lights go on? I ordered Professional navi and don't have DVD changer in boot, am i capable to play dvd? Also do i have the diamond in the key fob?
Here are my options:
X3 XDrive 2.0d
M-sport 19 Wheels
Professional Navigation
Business audio system
Bi-Xenon with adaptive headlights and Auto high beam
Black leather
Bluetooth Business
internet
automatic tailgate
automatic anti-dazzle interior and exterior
PDC
Automatic gearbox
Rear view camera
Sun Protection glass

They're all keyless start but you can get keyless entry (convenience package). I don't think this changes the lights. You can configure how the lights behave, e.g. number of seconds they stay on when you unlock but I think when you lock, they always go off immediately

Yes, and the windows and sun roof will close if they are open

Quote:

Yes - configurable as above

Yes, there is a front loading DVD player

Not sure what you mean on this one

Thank you, But I am not sure but if you turn ignition off and have set the pathway lights on then after pushing high beam flasher your lights will stay on for a time you have set. Have you tried that?

No, haven't tried this but I know the daytime running lights stay on. There is a difference in behaviour between locking the car and just switching off the ignition. Will check later for you

The diamond on the key fob turns your lights on when the car is locked.

I didn't know this despite owning the car for over 10 months! Thanks

I'm not sure all keys have the diamond system, it seems US cars have the alarm on that button, maybe with some UK packs it's removed too?

The diamond button can also activate the "panic mode" of the alarm system. My key doesn't look like the one above, it has the diamond instead of the speaker symbol on button 4.

It does have the configurable "pathway lighting" (previously had "courtesy" here mistakenly, which is the part clivem2 mentioned). Here in the US holding the BMW button does not fold the mirrors as it did in previous models. That seems to be market dependent.

Mine can't but it differs to the pic I posted of a US key. The keys with a diamond logo in place of a loudspeaker simply allow you to double click the key to turn on courtesy lights.

On my (US) key remote with the "diamond" on the No. 4 button, a single, short press turns on the lights (on-time is programmable via iDrive) and a "3-second" press triggers the alarm "panic mode".

US Key Remote:

On my UK key I have to double-click to turn on the lights. There doesn't seem to be a panic mode associated with the button. I could have missed something on the iDrive.

I think BMW assumes that Brits don't panic as easily as 'mericans, so don't need the panic function. They're probably right.

Lotus - I like the leather OEM key cover/sleeve shown in your picture, is that an official BMW accessory? I have not spotted it in the brochure.

You can get one similar from BMW Direct Store on ebay but I wouldn't recommend theirs. I ordered one but sent it back because it was flimsy and cheap. You also can't use it with a keyring and there was no round BMW logo like Lotus's, just BMW lettering in the leather.

I actually found mine on Amazon.com and it's of exceptionally nice quality, heavy, real leather, and available in (5) different colors. Also got a red one for the wife's key to avoid mixing them. Each came in a plain white box with no branding. Both still look new after 10 months of living in my pocket with other keys and loose change. They can be a minor pain if you have both hands full because you have to flip it open to get at the buttons, but they do protect the key remote from scratches.

The BMW logo screw attachment works well as long as you put a drop of "blue" Locktite on its threads to avoid it unscrewing by itself.
