Delivery delay log

The Japan disaster is never far from our minds or tv screens. Whilst it is trivial in comparison, worldwide stories are appearing of dealer-derived news of resultant delivery delays, so here is a thread to log what I fear will be a growing list. For me, unspecified delay "very likely" for June build.

Haven't heard anything from my dealer, getting the next updated in a couple of weeks. I wonder where this delay has appeared? From BMW UK? From the plant?

Sorry about the news, with painfully long waiting periods already, yet another delay?

Emails from USA expected "within a few days". "First non-X3s already effected". If true, brace yourselves for longer wait.

Wanted to add the electrical boot option to my order, but got a call from my dealer a few days later, and he explained that adding that option would delay my order 2-3 months because that option had parts coming from Japan..

I'm secretly hoping that the delays to the 30d's in Aus due to the automatic tailgate component shortage will mean I get my 20d quicker.

In seriousness though I feel for anyone who gets delayed by this or is forced to buy options they didn't want just to get their car.

Ordered my X3 20d in March, delivery hopefully Sep/Oct 2011.
Get a call last week from my dealer, BMW can't deliver 6NH "Bluetooth Handsfree", I had to change on 6NL "BMW Assist including Mobile Office and Bluetooth Audio Functionality" for additional 600€ = 860$

I ordered also electrical boot option, but no delivery delay with that option by now.

I refused. He called me later saying that BMW belgium confirms the delivery! Seems to be very confusing

Yeah! Wonder if BMW takes this upgrade as their own cost because it affected the most popular options package. So the risk is to delay many cars here.

No they won't. Why should they?
They can't deliver it any more, so we have the choice:

x) pay and get a better Navigation- and Bluetooth-System

or

x) get the money for "Bluetooth Handsfree" back

I will upgrade to Navi Prof and BMW Assist+Bluetooth.... additional 1.600 € = 2.300$

Phoned my dealer. No confirmed delays other than for one of the grey metallic colors (not available for the X3). No information on bluetooth or electric boot. The dealer is usually very well informed, but then again, he is a salesman.

On Tuesday my build was brought forward 3 weeks but also told that Japan issue likely to push it back again. There seems to have been a UK general warning with no specifics so they are looking at the impact on other models and trying to guess forward. Financially it is the last thing anyone needs but they know other manufacturers are in exactly the same position so unless you buy a showroom read car there is no escape. For those of us with trade ins who have not fixed a sale price / formula (ie March guide value for my car) this hurts as the price to changes grows each month, plus price rises on the new car / tax changes can happen and of course you don't have the car, possibly heading into winter. Not a good situ. Unless other supplies are sourced I still think we will hear of further casualties on this one but would love to be wrong. Honda appear the first to go public on delays so .......

Toyota, the world's biggest carmaker, has said it will cut output at its Burnaston plant in Derbyshire to the equivalent of three half-days a week.

Dealer planning will be removing option 654 ( DAB ) from all orders (week 20 2011 production onwards) which have the option without a navigation system or Media Package.

If a customer still wishes to order option 654 you will have to specify a Navigation system (606/609) Or Media Package (ZXE/ZXF) The cost of these options will be at normal retail prices and will not be subsidised by BMW UK.

Waiting to find out how long this will delay my order or if they will not even proceed with it without the above being added or deleted.

Anyone else in the same boat?

In australia, all models have had their base price increased by the same amount - $769. This showed up last week on a few different sites.

Nobody at headoffice or at the dealers could tell me why, though one dealer did volunteer a notice that 6NH must be upgraded to 6NK. Wasn't till it clicked that this was the same cost as the price increase that I've realized what is up. Anyway, seems this is how they'll get the customers to pay - it's no longer an option so the price increased.

Would be nice to have a notice on the website explaining why somewhere!
