I wish it was too. If you search the site you will see several threads related to this some with objective comment others with subjective, opinion type comments. I think the only way is to release the plug/socket connection under the seat. The downside is I think you will get a permenant dash light indicating the airbags will not operate. I think they also use the weight sensors in the seat pad to determine if the seat is occupied. A bit illogical as the car can't driver without a driver so someone must be on the seat.

I find that by simply wearing my seatbelt, I avoid the chime. They say that a byproduct of this is that I am also safer in the event of an accident. Seems like a win-win.

I know various ecu tuners offered this on the E9x platform. It seemed like a simple task via OBD port. Not sure if they can or plan to do it for the F25 though.

I get ya.... and the last thing we need is another "seat belt" thread (there have been about 100 at least). Statistically, you are at greater risk close to home than on the freeway. Just sayin'.

I like to use Auto-H all the time. Strangely I need the seatbelt attached to have it come on. In the UK too most road deaths occur very close to home.

a friend of mine once said long ago - if most accidents happen within a few miles of home, what happens if you move? I just buckle up all the time - whenever i have passengers, the noise annoys the passengers into compliance.

XRP - I did try to tell you that opinion feedback was more likely than constructive comment. Statistically you are more likely to crash near to home (because thats where you live and drive to/from the most) - this statement is self full filling.

In most cars if you can put up with the chimes for 2 minutes they time out and stop anyway - but don't kill the engine otherwise you reset.

Why do people insist on making such asinine comments when someone asks a reasonable question?

I wear my seat belt everyday, but remove it when coming home in my long cul-de-sac road and driveway, going under 10Km/h. There is no risk there, and yet the chime goes off.

And in any event, if someone chooses not to wear a seat belt, it's their own business. You don't see me telling you to eat more vegetables and less meat, do you? And yet you're much more likely do die from a heart attack than a car accident.

At the very least, the chime should only come on above a certain speed or after a reasonably long time.

I'm being selfish but I refuse to pay for you making a mess of yourself through the windshield on my insurance and taxes just because you don't like the bing-bing sound. Move somewhere it's legal to drive without a seatbelt.

Can't we discuss something that's non-controversial like religion or politics?
After all, this thread reminds me of someone sending a membership application for the ACLU and NAACP to Glenn Beck.

I`m being selfish, but I refuse to pay for your health care bills through my taxes and health insurance bills. Start exercising more, eat less meat and chips, make sure to wear your sunscreen, and get your colonoscopy.

And while you`re at it, being on a bus is safer than driving, so please sell your BMW and take public transit.

It's easier to take the bus after I've been to the gym, or on nicer days I ride my bike to work, and then eat healthy. Checked all the other boxes too. Including wearing my seatbelt.

Noooooooo! Stop. Stick to the subject. Don't assume that people that want to switch off the seat belt chime drive around all the time without a seatbelt. It's a technical question and the answer is: no, you can't (or not easily anyway).

It's amazing how concerned everyone is about the safety of strangers. Why not run into bars and knock the beer out of everyone's hands and shout "STOP! Your liver!", and then follow it up with a visit to McDonald's and find the nearest fat person and knock the Big Mac out of his hand and tell him he's killing himself.

Incidentally, legally you don't have to wear a seatbelt in the UK if you are a taxi driver so if you were using your X3 as a taxi (I know of one!) this is a completely valid question. You also don't need to wear one whilst performing a manoeuvre that involves reversing by law

Do the chimes stop if you select reverse and take off your belt? - please can someone who is not waiting for delivery do a test?

People will be afraid to answer this for fear of being judged for pressing the Devil's Button (seatbelt release) with vehicle in motion

It generally doesn't come on when reversing because you haven't yet gone fast enough to set it off (if that makes sense). Not sure what happens if you go forward, set off the chime, then stop and reverse
