Just got ours back from the dealer, recall work is done, all is perfect.

For those that are worried... The dealer does full disassembly of the rear end of the vehicle, all seats and trim panels are removed. Then the vehicle is transported to the body shop (ours went to the shop that does all work for the dealership, so I had full faith). The body shop welds in the new brackets and then does the paint work over the new brackets. After that is done, the vehicle is transported back to the dealer. All panels and interior parts are reinstalled.

I had a few other things done as well. The security system siren had stopped working, replaced (my SA said he had done one other one on the F25), and I also had a new AC condenser installed, as ours had a leak... All work was done and we couldn't be happier.

I had mine done earlier this week when I had the MOT done, it took less than a day.

Yeah, I don't see the work getting done in a day or less.

No wonder the work is taking 2, 3 or 4 days! That's quite a bit of work. I had no idea it was so involved. I'm sure my dealer will do a great job (although hopefully I won't have any squeaks or rattles after all that disassembly!)

Update: dealer called me this aft to say my car is ready to be picked up!! Holy $hit!! I dropped the car off Saturday and was completed by Tuesday p.m.!!

They did the recall, fixed the USB issue, fixed my connected drive store issue with a software update, changed the oil....AND....got all the bugs off the front of the car from the cottage drive on the previous weekend. All in 2 days!

Love my dealer....after 7 cars with them, they've really been great.

Just dropped mine off at the dealership this morning. The loaner vehicle was supplied by Enterprise, in which they were able to supply a base model 2015 X3 28i.

They advised that my car will be driven to the bodyshop (150km round trip). The bodyshop is owned by the same owner of the dealership I go to, and that gas will be filled for the mileage used. I'm uneasy about it, considering that a tech would be driving my vehicle across town and back. But, given we have a 2 year old, her safety comes first and me being OCD about the car comes last.

Will update to the outcome of this experience.

Update:

I received an email from the dealership on Friday morning that the vehicle was ready for pickup. I called them immediately, stating that I would not be available to pickup my vehicle until Saturday morning. They had no issues (even though I had a rental from them). I did advise that I was expecting my vehicle to be spotless in the interior, just as I dropped it off on the Wednesday morning. It was not.

On top of them adding 150km to my mileage, the car was dirty on the inside. I expect the car to get dirty, especially coming from a bodyshop, but I expect that the car should be cleaned by the dealership before returning to the customer. They also managed to scratch/chip an interior plastic kick plate by the rear seat. Not happy.

I will be making a call to the dealership Monday morning.

FYI, the dealership is in Ajax, and their bodyshop (which is owned by the same owner as the dealership) is located in Mississauga.

Had ours done last week - dropped off on Tuesday AM and picked up Wed PM, got a 2 series loaner.
Had a wheel sensor changed and 2 new tyres at the same time - car came back IMMACULATE! - so good since we had on Monday returned from France with a 1000 flies embedded on the bumper and not a single one is sight!
So quick, easy and no mess - perfect as always with our local dealer...

Cheers, need to get it booked in as I have the kiddy seats in the back so best get it done. Anyone got any recommendations in Scotland, I usually use Harry Fairbairn but open to suggestions.

Yes. Mine is being taken in on 12th August. BMW North Oxford Garage say it will take around half a day to do. They will be keeping it for a full day and providing a vehicle whilst it is in the garage.

Re: the UK recall. I have literally just bought a used 2011 20D only this week, and have a young daughter who uses a car seat with an Isofix base. Does anybody know if a) I shouldn't use the car seat until I can visit a dealer (very little online info) and b) As I didn't buy the car from an approved dealer, will they still do the repair work (apologies if that's a stupid question!)?

Thanks

It is a safety recall, so there will no charge nor does it make any difference from where you purchased it.

There is plenty of information online. Read more here.....

http://www.autocar.co.uk/car-news/in...ety-seat-issue

I suggest you ring up the closest BMW dealership and ask them when it can be done and whether you are OK to use it. The link says there have been no reported injuries.

When you ring BMW, make sure you have your full VIN number to hand.
