Do we need a RTFMFAQ Sticky?

These cars are not simple but I get the sense that people are not bothering to read the manual. Would it be better if the "typical" questions were in a FAQ sticky thread where those who don't want to read the manual could spare themselves a minute or two out of their busy lives to at least read the FAQ response.

Thoughts?

Better yet, can someone turn the manual into an audiobook so we can listen in traffic and test out the features in real time?

Or how about even doing a simple search for a topic that's been covered several times.

There is a copy of the owners manual in the Idrive, according to BMWUSA owner videos.

It's a good idea but the problem is that many people won't bother searching or reading the sticky as it's much quicker for them to start a new thread. But for those that will take the time, it's worthwhile

Yeah, this is the most frustrating part. You can search for virtually anything regarding the car's features, specs, and settings whenever you're in the car. Nobody should have to read the manual to learn how to read the manual.

And then they clutter the forum with repeat posts and threads because of their ineptitude...

Agree - I was attempting to be diplomatic. I can't understand how you buy something this expensive and NOT read the manual cover to cover and back again. Seems just plain lazy.

If the only manual available was a printed one I could excuse someone for being lazy. But the PDF version is searchable and quicker to access than any forum.

I could not agree more. I never cease to be amazed at some of the questions asked on this forum and also the inanity of some of the replies. I hate to sound defeatist but I doubt people too lazy to read the manual (let alone make simple decisions on their own volition) would be motivated to read through a FAQ which someone has worked hard to put together.

Funny how folks find it easier to find this blog, sign up, and ask the obvious question than to pick up the manual. I'll admit I've asked a stupid question or two, but I tried to figure it out first!

Guilty as charged - oh well I was doing well w/ all of that, tripped up on active fog lights RTFM on me apparently i need a refresher read on a cold winter day - too bad it warmed up. oh well at least that's more obscure and a topic I don't recall being covered....

I do want to endorse the how-to video's BMW posted online - I went through every one of those and learned so much.

Isn't that 2 lb. slab of paper in the glove-box a paperweight? Dam!, you learn something every day.

Can anyone tell me what those pedals hanging just above the floor on the driver's side are for?
The one on the right is regular espresso, the one on the left is decaf.

I didn't get the fog lights from the manual either, so you have company.

Kept pushing the pedals this morning and no damn coffee coming out. I had to use the regular grind and brew. Does anyone know where in the manual I can find this subject?

What's funny about this thread is that it probably tells more about the personality of the posters than the OP's referred too.

The car itself could use a dedicated button with this icon:

I thought electronics is used for making it automatic but manual says there is an electronic manual too.
