Queries from New Owner
Hi All,
Have done a search for these but can't find the answer. Just a couple which I hope someone can answer: 1. Is there a way to have visual readout of the volume level for audio? I know you can hear the volume! but it's nice to have a level reading especially if you happen to adjust it during the dead space between music tracks 2. Is it possible via coding to have the tailgate open when the car is locked via the remote button? My previous 4x4 had this allowing you to open the tailgate while leaving the main doors locked. When you then closed the tailgate, the car armed again without any further inputs on the remote. Thanks for any info. |

from my experience:
1) no indicator of volume 2) you can open and close the gate and the car will unarm and arm automatically without coding (page35 of the manual) The manual can be downloaded from the bmw website |

Edited to add: Just looked at the manual and it indeed states: "In some vehicle equipment variants, the tailgate can only be opened using the remote control if the vehicle was unlocked first." So can this be adjusted with coding? If so where is the setting? |

In US, and I don't see a volume indicator either. I've always found this odd.

I Live in Europe. My tailgate will open WITH the car doors locked. (NO ALARM fitted) and will close leaving the car doors locked afterwards. I guess it's a country related thing. For coding I think this should be possible as this is not hardwired. ? You might ask the boffins in the coding thread if it's possible. Good luck. |

Thanks for the info. Interesting this isn't a default here, unless I've a rogue one
I'll see what the coding guys have to say. Quote:

If you can check that would be helpful. Mine definitely doesn't and I have had it confirmed by the dealer that it shouldn't as BMW disable this for UK vehicles. Perhaps they used to enable it.
I also don't have comfort access. Not sure if that makes any difference. |

With CA you can also press a button on the inside of the tailgate which will close the boot and lock the car - pretty usefull when unloading the shopping as it saves you a bit of time (all of about 0.001 second).
