Oil Leaks -- Oil Filter Housing Gasket and Oil Pan Gasket

Hi All --

I'm a regular over in the F80 Forum, but i have a 2007 E83 M Sport with 105k miles for winter duty.

A month or so ago i noticed an oil mark in my garage/driveway coming from the X3. Last time i was in service, they mentioned i needed an Oil Filter Housing Gasket and Oil Pan Gasket repair done.

So i took the car back in today for the airbag recall and had them look at it again. Comes down to these issues:

1 Oil Filter Housing Gasket (leaking bad): $500 or so, just authorized it (don't crucify me, i know its a $10 part and a somewhat easy DIY, but i just don't have the time or wherewithal to do it right now)

2. Oil Pan Gasket (not as bad of a leak): they wanted $2,200, so i said hold off.

My Main question, i havent had any problems with having to add oil between regular interval oil changes, my biggest concern is the oil marks on my driveway. Am i totally screwed? I assume the Oil Pan Gasket is causing the marks on my driveway, or is it possible that the OFHG could also cause that leak on my driveway?

I brought my 2004 X3 3.0 to my indy. He also said it was my oil pan gasket. I did some research on cheap fixes because frankly I paid 6k for the car, I know it's a band-aid but it looks like Liqui-Moly motor oil saver has a lot of good reviews. Nothing to lose for me at this point $10 vs. $1,000. I'll try to remember to update when it's been a few hundred miles.

I literally just dropped the car off for OPG. I couldn't take the oil spots on my garage floor anymore. I'll update after as well!
