Lets hope they keep them in a separate area! That would be my biggest concern...how many people are they letting look and touch my car! I know my dealer hasn't had an X3 demo in months so anyone wanting to see one would have to look at one that was sold to someone! I'll do some driving for you over Memorial day weekend!!

re: people touching your x3 etc...I'm pretty sure that legally the dealer can't do that b/c techncially the car is reserved etc... I mean maybe they can open the doors etc, but letting anyone drive it is absolutely out of the question. if our x3s had any more than 5-8 miles on them I'd reject delivery b/c it woudl suggest they had it out for a drive etc. Also it's doubtful that they woudl tee up your car for this b/c right now our vehicles are not prepped at all....and they REALLY need to get prepped...they come in from the shipper pretty dirty from what I understand. So if you weren't taking delivery for a week let's say, they woudln't prep to show people, and then prep again to give to you...they definitely don't want to do that twice b/c there is a cost to them for doing that. |

Nonetheless, I'm way satisfied with what I'm gonna get. Most of the time, it's gonna be my wife who'll be driving the X3. I've got a compnay car - Chevi Equinox 2011!!! What a torture, ha??? |

Shaw...I love the idea... BUT.... go and test drive a Subaru STI (my other) and you won't want a 3 series. The 3 series is awesome yes, but if you already have an X3, the 3 series is probably 1/2 the fun as an STI and it's less money.. you can get a fully loaded STI limited for like 38K and you will never have more fun unless you buy a porsche.

I picked up my X3 35i today. I have been playing around with the hi-fi system. It took very little tinkering with the treble and bass, but its great. Very crisp and loud. "Tone Poems" (for all you Tony Rice and David Grisman fans out there) sounds crisp and perfect.

I can tell you this though...drive one for an entire weekend and you won't care what is on it...if you think the X3 is intoxicating the STI is pretty much crack on 4 wheels. IMHO the only thing that comes close is an M3 (haven't driven M1 yet). The AWD system on the STI is unlike anything you will ever drive..it's completely different than anything else Subaru puts out (even diff from other imprezas) and you just can't compare it to Quattro or xDrive...it's just not fair b/c of how it operates. That being said... The X3 35i is the most fun I've had in years (except the STI) When I was 18 I had a tricked out 86 Mazda RX7 with a rediculous (cartech) aftermarket turbo....it was a 12 second car and the fastest thing I had until the STI. I haven't picked up my 35i yet ,but from the hour or so I've spend behind the wheel so far, it is up there in the fun factor with the RX7 I had and the STI. The fact that an SUV can perform the way it does actually gets it a leg up in certain ways. I mean I can't take the STI off road even if I wanted to. |
