DVD Playback Volume

When playing DVD's on Pro Media (whilst waiting for the wife) I have to turn the volume up considerably to hear them but then when moving off and forgetting (every time) and switching back to ipod or radio the volume is far too loud and scares the **** out of us all.

Anyone else have them same problem or is my DVD volume kaput?

Haven't really tried the DVD playback yet but I have a problem with my radio volume. When you guys listen to the radio does the volume occasionally go down then reverts back to normal? I don't have this problem when listening to a ipod but I constantly have to readjust the volume when listening to the radio.

Might be something to do with the speed volume in idrive settings (depending on setting, the faster you go the louder it gets and vice versa)

I know kung fu...

Yes, same problem and the difference in volume is so large that it's dangerous. I turned it down a bit expecting it to be loud when I switched to music and it still nearly deafened me! Worth complaining to BMW about IMO. Can't see any way to change it or why it should be so quiet when you play DVDs

Same issue on 3 series too but I don't buy that the codecs are responsible. That might make a slight difference but not one as big as this
