The Skinny on West Coast US Delivery
Spoke with my CA at the dealer today in regards to delivery to the Western Region of USA. The X3 does go through a Vehicle Prep Center in South Carolina and then is staged for rail transportation to the west coast Vehicle Prep Center in Port Hueneme, California. Upon arrival the car is then processed at Port Hueneme and loaded on a truck transport for delivery to the 14? western regions along with other vehicles from the west coast prep center.
If your car was damaged a “D” will appear at the end of your VIN. |

True. Probably on the dealer and/or BMW records is my guess. Some people have wanted to know how to tell if their car had sustained damage during transportation. I didn't want to act too much like a reporter for the National Enquirer.

Would the dealership disclose this information to the buyer if the D is only added to its records? There is a lot of debate on this, but I heard the dealership only has to disclose damage in excess of $3600.00.
