Gutted

Gutted.....

Got to work this morning, opened the electric gate onto our carpark and was surprised to see my boss was in (he usually rolls up 2 to 3 hours after everyone else.) I'm driving in and his dog (yes he brings his dog to work) runs across my path just as the electric gate is closing - unfortunately the sensor on the gate is located in line with where the gate shuts not on the open position so the gate swung repeatedly into the rear passenger door.

Caused several scuffs and looks like a light dent - got a local dent repair coming out later today - boss will be paying for the damage but well and truely peed off!

I can imagine your feeling right as it started to occur, Smithy. No way you could have predicted the scenario which developed, and you had to stop to avoid injuring his dog, and you knew the gate was closing but didn't have enough time to clear the gate's path... I suspect your employer may now think twice about allowing his dog free reign of the area - perhaps a leash is in order from now on.

I think now would be a good time to see him for a payrise

Specialist has been out and has said several of the scuffs will polish out but there are about three scratches so will need the whole door resprayed - £100 all in

the good news - boss is paying
the bad news - the guy is fully booked until mid October!

I have used this guy twice before, the first time was on a pearlescent red Freelander 2 which I thought would be a nightmare to blend in but he did a perfect job.

Now just got to drive around with a bruised X3 for a month

Sorry to hear about your car Smithy! If the boss is paying, you really should consider taking it to BMW and get their body shop to do the repair. If it is the whole door that needs spraying, then it will have to be blended into the other panels and if the lacquer goes down thicker in parts, it will show darker.
