Pirelli tires on 309 wheels ? (sport package)
Hi everybody
I'm a new poster on this forum, but I've been lurking for a few weeks, getting info while waiting for my X3 to arrive the next few weeks ! I'm getting a 35i with the Sport Package, which include the 309-type 19" wheels. What tires are you getting with these tires ? The North America-spec Pirelli Cinturatto "all season" with a 400 threadwear, the European-spec Cinturatto "summer" with a more agressive thread and 220 threadwear ? Continentals ? It's written "performance RFT" on the BMW website, but I'm wondering if I'm getting summer tires (which should be appropriate for a sport package !) or all-season, iron-like-wearing all seasons... Thanks ! Will post pics when the F25 will arrive ! |

I wish. Love my car, but wasn't wild about the tire choice. To be fair, though, they've been great on dry roads and very heavy rain. No experience on snow.

As far as I know, the 309 should come with either Pirelli P-zero summer or Continental sportcontact summer tires. I think the newest change for April production was that 19s will come with all-seasons, at least in Canada.
Mine came with the Pirelli P-zero. |

Ok got my X3 today !
I've got Contis Sportcontacts 3 You're lucky alpineweiss... I'm in Canada too, production 03-2011 I think the Pirellis are better summer tires, but I hope I'll get the same positive review of the Contis as Nahoa... |

all-seasons on 19s in Canada ?
the majority of X3 buyers will have a dedicated snow tires set out here... it would be more logical, then, to have a full-summer "other set", no ? PS : are you running in winter on 245 fronts 275 rears ??? I thought it was better to have skinnier tires with mode sidewall for the ice & snow... Then I guess winter is not that harsh in Toronto ? |

I think the general consumer in this city finds it odd that an SUV has proper summer tires. They seem to love their all-seasons. Yes I am running 245/275 snow tires. Winter in Toronto? It's bad. Really bad. We need to call in the army, remember... |

on all 4 corners (no staggered wider rear wheels) and the all seasons are maybe the cinturatos or Goodyear LS2s |

It appears that for Canada, 2B7 is no longer being offered. If you want the 309 style wheels, you are stuck with 2A1, which comes with all season RFT.
On a similar sad note, with the M Sport Pkg, BMW is also changing the tire pkg code as well. It is now 2A8, which comes with A/S RFT. It used to be 2NE, which came with a performance RFT. I don't know if the rims are staggered or not. With the old 2B7 and 2NE, they were. With the new codes, I'm no longer certain. Does any one have the most recent X3 product guide? |

Ultra High Performance All Season -- doesn't that sound lime a good tire for the 35i with Sports Package and 309s? BMW should put the PZeroNeros on. They're not gonna replace Winter tire at all, but they'll work well in mild areas -- pretty good for and SAV. And, unless you spending time at the track (why o' why with a F25?), Summer performance is gonna be great. Just makes a lot of sense to me. Frustrated by the waste of my Summer Contis.

Since I live near San Francisco, and the whole justification for the AWD for me is occasional winter trips to the Sierras, it wouldn't make sense for me to swap winter/summer wheel/tire sets. |
