Has anyone done this ?

I've booked my appointment for next Wednesday as im about 112,000 KM

My mechanic says N55 should be done about every 100,000 KM

Will see the end result.

Yes. That's one of the reasons for the walnut shells, tough enough to do the job but not so tough as to ruin an engine if some escape through the valves.

FWIW I will suggest it be used to solve a problem, if there is a problem, but not be done if things are running great. Some crap on the valves, as long as the seats are good and there's not so much build-up as to cause pre-ignition or anything, can be just fine.

Not sure youw ould have to ask.

I just got my vehicle back, did the coolant expansion tank change & the valve cap as it was leaking as well as the carbon cleaning.

Jeez, i took it out of the parking lot and was just slowing accelerating, i had to actually check if car was in sport mode.

What a response difference!!!
Mind you mine wasn't that bad, but still here are the before afters.

Sorry for the confusion alpwhite46. I meant what brand of gasoline. Specifically, do you consistently use Shell (as BMW recommends) or another top tier fuel?

I kind of thought that didn't matter for this particular issue. With the direct injection engine the fuel doesn't go through the intake and flow over the intake valves; therefore, the fuel can't help keep the valves clean like it would in a port injection engine.

Not that there aren't other reasons to use a top tier fuel...I just didn't think it did much to help with this problem.

Ah sorry i actually use Petro Canada. Petro-Canada is a retail and wholesale marketing brand of Suncor Energy.

My company pays for the gas so thats why I use that.

To save the curious from having to check, Petro-Canada is a Top Tier gasoline.
