N20 PWG Turbo rebuild?

Hey guys and gals - I'm looking ahead to an eventual turbo replacement for my early 2013 X3, 110k miles. I get the Drivetrain Malfunction during partial throttle and smoke on startup - will do the turbo pressure test soon to confirm issues. Maybe leak check the actuation system. I replaced the timing and oil pump drive chains about 2 years ago. I'm wondering if anyone has just rebuilt their turbo (as in turbine components) rather than buying the whole turbo/exhaust manifold setup. I think only the components within the turbine housing would be subject to wear. Anyone go this route?

I just had the dealership pu TY in a new Turbo. It was 5200 and worth it for me. My x3 has a new out of the crate motor due to the timing chain issues
